Dubai - MENA Herald: Embodying the spirit of the UAE’s Year of Giving, and in line with the company’s efforts to give back to the society, Huawei employees volunteered to take part in the du’s Mawaed Al Rahman initiative. The initiative, which is organized for the 9th consecutive year in partnership with Tarahum, seeks to provision and distribute Ramadan baskets on less privileged individuals and families during the holy month of Ramadan.

Contributing to this noble initiative, Huawei delegated 100 of its employees to distribute over 350 Ramadan baskets, and demonstrate the company’s commitment to the Year of Giving.

“Huawei prides itself of being an integral part of all communities in which it works, and naturally we are part of the rich traditions in this region. Ramadan is a valuable time for all of us, a time for reflection and spiritual development, and of course a time for giving and compassion,” said David Wang, CEO, Huawei Tech, UAE. “The holy month is a perfect opportunity to highlight these values, and work with our partners and other stakeholders in the UAE to spread the spirit of Ramadan on all people. We are very pleased to have been a part of it during the UAE’s Year of Giving,” he added.

Mr. Wang also commended du for building this platform that allows others to take part in this social work. He also thanked Huawei staff for their commitment in fulfilling this initiative.

Mawaed Al Rahman has been a leading Ramadan initiative from du since 2008, and has so far distributed more than 500,000 Ramadan baskets on less privileged UAE residents. Using reusable, environmentally friendly packaging, the baskets include 12 items of Iftar and Suhoor essentials. Each year, volunteers prepare 16,000 baskets, and distribute to more than 3,000 families.
