Dubai Financial Market Showcases its Smart Services at GITEX 2018

The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) today announced the details of its participation in GITEX 2018, the information technology week scheduled from 14 to 18 October 2018 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Exhibition’s visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about DFM’s most recent solutions and applications that enables market participants including investors, listed companies, brokerage firms and others swift and smooth access to their investment portfolios and market services any time anywhere.

The DFM has successfully developed series of innovative solutions as part of its "Smart Brose" strategy that reinforced its leading position amongst regional exchanges in terms of innovation and utilization of most advanced technologies to provide its services through multiple channels in line with participants’’ requirements.

DFM’s new solutions due to be presented at GITEX 2018 include; the updated version of smart phone application, launch of the E-signature and issuance of investor number with the use of the Emirates ID and pilot launch of the Annual General Meetings service via Block Chain technology. It also includes pilot launch of the Chatbot interactive communication service as well as pilot launch of the DFM Stock Game for public.

The DFM is participating within the “Business Services” area of the Dubai Smart Government (DSG) pavilion. DFM officials and specialists will be present to explain the market services to GITEX visitors.

The list of DFM’s smart applications and innovative solutions due to be showcased at GITEX 2018 include;

Smart Services Application for Investors

The DFM Smart Services app enables investors to stay up-to-date with their stock portfolio information. Investors can access various details including number of shares owned and its value, iVESTOR card statements, cash dividends entitlement, as well as the instant access to the market watch. The updated version includes many enhancements such as the Corporate Actions Calendar that enables market participants to track such important developments that affects their investment decisions. Eleven new DFM forms have been added also to the application, including forms for clearing, settlement and depository services, enabling investors to submit their requests directly to DFM through the E-Forms service.

AGM Management service using Block Chain Technology

The DFM has developed its Annual General Meetings management service by integrating it to the Block Chain technology in a quantum leap in this important service, further enhancing the security and transparency of registration and voting during the AGMs. The service enables registered investors to register for the AGMs using their Emirates IDs. It also enables them to vote online during AGMs from anywhere in the world through DFM website and Smart Services App. The service ensures more interaction from investors in the decision making process during the AGMs. GITEX 2018 will witness the pilot launch of this service, which ensures that all records of investor activities and transactions are safely kept and enables supervisory bodies to overs the registration and voting.

Emirates ID for seamless issuance of investor numbers

It is now even easier and faster to obtain a DFM Investor Number (NIN) and start trading through the DFM.  Investors can simply present their Emirates IDs and the DFM will verify the information through the card reader and issue the NIN on the same day.

The Chatbot

As part of DFM’s endeavours to provide the highest levels of customer service, the Chatbot services allows immediate responses to general enquiries from anywhere in the world, anytime through automated text.  The Chatbot is designed to provide immediate replies to frequently asked customer questions on various DFM products and services and reduces call-waiting times during busy trading hours.

The E-Signature

DFM provides a secure electronic signature service at the DFM Client Affairs Department, enabling investors to swiftly sign and submit various requests to DFM.

Stock game for public, a new tool to promote financial knowledge

During GITEX 2018, the DFM will also launch the pilot website of its stock game, the leading initiative from DFM promoting financial knowledge since 2003. The new website is expected to be officially launched before the end of this year enabling public to take part in the competition for the first time, noting that through its history the stock game was solely open to school and university students in the UAE and beyond.

Through the new website, participants from the public will be able to virtually invest in a challenging experience that will further enhance their knowledge about this sector. Participants can also invite other contenders from across the world and form competing teams in order to achieve the highest returns. The public competition is DFM’s most recent initiatives as part of its continuous efforts to increase awareness about the characteristics of capital markets. Participants will be able to accomplish their virtual investment activities through the website for no more than 3 months from the date of first participation.

They will be able view access statistics of the participating groups, number of players as well as participants ranking.

The DFM will run a competition for the visitors of the exhibition and players can register at DFM’s stand in order to virtually trade during the trading hours of DFM. The initial investment amount is AED one million of virtual money and they can use this amount to buy and sell listed securities as per the real prices. Winners who achieve highest returns will receive mini IPads.
