Dubai Land Department organises Innovation Camp and Property Digital Accelerators during Innovation Month

Dubai Land Department (DLD), through its educational arm, Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI) organised the Innovation Camp and Property Digital Accelerators activities at DLD under the slogan ‘Change Through Inspiring Thought,’ in line with the fourth edition of UAE Innovation Month, which is taking place throughout February 2019 under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This comes as part of DLD’s relentless efforts to promote innovation and adopt the latest technologies.

DLD launched its activities during Innovation Month in line with the core themes of UAE Vision 2021 to support the UAE’s ambitious goals. DLD believes that these objectives can be achieved through innovation, research, science, and technology, and adopt them as key pillars in knowledge and competitive economy to support productivity; thus, inspiring and encouraging entrepreneurs, creating a stimulating business environment, and promoting effective public-private partnerships.

Hend Obaid Al Marri, CEO of DREI, said: “We successfully launched the Property Digital Accelerators and Innovation Camp in the real estate sector, as part of Innovation Month, to achieve the objectives of Dubai Industrial Strategy 2030 launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The conference aims to identify the latest technologies affecting real estate markets, and DREI seeks to connect experts and innovators, help understand these technologies, shape the future of the sector, and discuss its challenges and opportunities for its development and sustainability innovatively by regularly holding such meetings that will help make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world.”

The innovation camp featured several activities, comprising a comprehensive review on the performance of Dubai’s real estate market during 2018, a brainstorm session on innovative thinking techniques, and round table panel discussions where the participants discussed the different challenges facing each sector, including legislators and decision-makers at DLD as well as the roles of government and decision makers, developers, brokers, financial institutions, law experts, researchers, and real estate valuators. The camp hopes to achieve the desired results, find solutions to those challenges in an innovative and effective manner, and increase awareness on DLD’s innovative projects and initiatives. The Innovation Camp concluded with the honouring of the best innovative ideas.

In conjunction with Innovation Month, DREI held the Property Digital Accelerators, which witnessed an opening speech by Noora Bawazir from DLD, a lecture titled ‘Technology Through a Crystal Ball’ by Anand Subramaniam from Oracle, and a panel discussion titled ‘Digital Innovation in Real Estate.’ It also witnessed three other lectures on ‘Dubai Land Block Chain & REST Platform,’ ‘Digital Transformation by DAFZA,’ and ‘Technology Disruption in Cloud, IT Applications Strategy.’

The Innovation Camp is an initiative by DREI, the educational arm of DLD, that aims to introduce innovative ideas and discuss the challenges facing the real estate market to find solutions to those challenges in an innovative and effective manner. The innovation camp is designed to become an open space for scientific and knowledge exchange between experts and real estate stakeholders in various categories and strategies that contribute to the development of real estate market as well as enhance its impact and global position.
