Dubai Police and TECOM Group Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Establish Three Smart Police Stations

TECOM Group, a member of Dubai Holding, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dubai Police to collaborate in establishing three smart police stations in major locations across the Group’s entities including Dubai Design District (d3), Dubai International Academic City (DIAC), as well as in the vicinity of Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City and Dubai Knowledge Park.

His Excellency Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and Dr Amina Al Rustamani, Group Chief Executive Officer of TECOM Group, signed the agreement at a special ceremony in Dubai Design District in the presence of senior officials from both parties.

Under the MoU, Dubai Police and TECOM Group will work together to open police stations that provide the highest standards of safety and security for residents and employees of TECOM Group’s business parks. The first of their kind in the region, the smart police stations will offer innovative, high-quality services round-the-clock, including 27 criminal, traffic and community services as well as 33 allied services that will operate without any human intervention.

His Excellency Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri said: “In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Police is committed to providing a smart experience across the city’s residential and commercial areas. With our smart services, we aim to facilitate the interaction between the police and the public.”

He added: “In a bid to help make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world, our wise leadership has set out to reduce the number of visitors to Customer Happiness Centers by 80 per cent and provide easy access to our services for people of determination across all government services.”

For her part, Dr Amina Al Rustamani said: “We are proud of our cooperation with Dubai Police to establish smart police stations in some of Dubai’s vital areas that reflects our shared belief in the importance of safety and security for the happiness of society. Utilising technologies for the well-being of humanity will always be a priority for the UAE that currently ranks first among Arab countries in the World Happiness Index.”

She added: “Today, we have reached a milestone in our efforts to prioritise innovation and investment in technology. This MoU supports our strategy and aligns with the vision of our wise leadership to shape an innovation- led economy and establish Dubai as the smartest city in the world.”

In closing, Dr Al Rustamani said: “The agreement reinforces TECOM Group’s commitment to supporting Dubai’s smart initiatives and reflects its efforts to create pioneering solutions for an economy that is based on knowledge and innovation. As a strategic partner of the Smart Dubai initiative, we have implemented its key pillars in the Dubai Design District development that has so far launched 21 smart city services, with our other hubs, such as Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City, following suit.”
