Dubai - MENA Herald:

Integrating different technologies within business solutions can help advance the FM industry, experts discuss at the FM Expo.

As part of the Facilities Management Congress within the FM Expo, in the panel Digital Future – Where we are and where we go – Is technology a game changer?, experts discussed how technology systems can help support the advancement of the FM industry and create valuable solutions in the future.

With the progressions of technologies, FM organisations are looking to grow and develop their services that integrate these IT systems to optimise the value for their suppliers. This in return will help gather data that can be analysed in real time, address the insights before it creates a problem and maximise the potential of the technology. As technology systems continue to change, organizations need to streamline the processes through the integration of multiple systems.

Manish Bhasin, Product Head – Enterprise IOT, HARMAN Connected Services Inc, said, “In terms of IOT and system integration, businesses need to get all their devices connected. The real power lies in the analytic tools and technologies we have running in the back through these devices which can help simulate the data and convert that into meaningful information and decisions.”

Facilities management services can gain prominence through the advancement of technology solutions within their business processes, and effectively contribute to the UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda which focuses on highlighting the importance of infrastructure and aims for the country to excel in the quality of airports, ports, road infrastructure, electricity, and other building facilities.

However, experts believe understanding the technology before its implementation is vital to adding strategic value to services.

“Don’t think about technology for technology sake. Think about why you are using the technology and align your business processes accordingly by understanding how it will be beneficial to your business and your suppliers. Just buying the technology and throwing data in it will not add any value,” said Adrian Jarvis, General Manager, FSI.

FM EXPO will continue through to 5pm on Wednesday 27 September 2017 at Dubai World Trade Centre where the focus will be on how smart buildings and smart design, through innovative solutions, can generate cost savings.

The event is supported by Advanced Integrated Services as Platinum Sponsor, Imdaad as Strategic Content Partner, Badge Sponsor is ServeU, Lanyard Sponsor as Farnek, and Bronze Sponsors include Karcher, Al Shirawi and Khidmah.

Organised by dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa, FM EXPO is co-located with The Big 5 Outdoor Design & Build Show, Windows, Doors & Facades Event, and Gulf Glass, all taking place until 5pm on 27 September at Dubai World Trade Centre.
