The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) organized the Girls’ Summer Camp at the Institute of Applied Technology in Mohammed bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi. The initiative aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Emirati girls and enabling them to drive the progress of the country's entrepreneurship landscape. The camp targeted girls between the ages of 14 and 18 in order to instill the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation in them by encouraging their creative ideas and projects. These efforts were designed to enhance their skills and prepare them to achieve their professional aspirations by building a successful future in leadership and excellence.
Mouza Al Nasri, Acting Chief Executive Officer, KFED, said: “The Girls' Summer Camp forms part of the Fund's unique initiatives that aim to support Emirati youth in the realization of their ambitions for entrepreneurship. This will encourage them to establish innovative small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, as future leaders and the cornerstones of the national economy.”
“The Khalifa Fund initiatives play an important role in promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and freelancing among young people of both genders, while the Girls’ Summer Camp affirms the Fund's absolute belief in the importance of women's role in the development of the Emirati society and the national economy. It will also strengthen their leadership position in the business arena and will lead development and growth, under the guidance of our wise leadership to empower women in all sectors and provide them with equal opportunities to participate in the decision-making process,” she added.
The Girls’ Summer Camp initiative was an ideal opportunity to develop girls' skills and help them become entrepreneurs of the future. The camp included a number of events such as theoretical and practical workshops with opportunities for participants to present their ideas and projects. The most outstanding ideas were selected for implementation, using virtual reality (VR) simulations.
The event was held to emphasize the importance of giving young people, both girls and boys, a platform to present their ideas in an attempt to help them find the best ways to achieve their ambitions and dreams. The camp was organized in cooperation with the Etisalat Academy in Dubai, based on scientific foundations and cumulative experience. The participants got to learn about the basic principles of entrepreneurship and how to set up SMEs, in addition to engaging in several sports and entertainment activities.
The summer camp for young boys will be held from Sunday July 28, 2019, to August 1, 2019 at the Etisalat Academy in Dubai.
