Queen Alia International Airport Welcomes Over 620,000 Passengers in First Month of 2018

During the first month of the year, Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed 624,207 passengers, marking a significant increase of 8.2% in year-to-year passenger (PAX) numbers as compared to the 576,912 passengers received in January 2017, according to Airport International Group.

In January, the Airport also registered 5,672 aircraft movements (ACM) as opposed to 5,819 ACM in 2017, effecting a 2.5% year-on-year drop. Meanwhile, cargo figures increased by 14.8% as QAIA handled 8,074 tons of cargo compared to 7,036 tons during the same month.  

“We are delighted to kick off the year by welcoming more than 620,000 passengers, the highest number of January passengers in QAIA’s 35-year long history. We aim to see 2018 be yet another successful year to add to our repertoire, as we implement strategies that will improve our services and bolster our operations so that we may continue to maintain QAIA’s standing as  Jordan’s prime gateway to the world,” said Airport International Group CEO, Kjeld Binger.
