Ajman Tourism teams up with Emirates Environmental Group for a better environment

Ajman - MENA Herald: The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATTD) has signed a memorandum of mutual cooperation with Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) to support the group’s ongoing campaign on environment protection and sustainable development.

The memorandum of mutual cooperation was signed in line with Ajman’s Vision 2021 to build a green economy that provides the best opportunities, all while preserving the environment. It was signed by Hamad Al Matrooshi, Director of the Office of Strategy and Performance and Habiba Al Marashi, Chairperson of EEG.

Al Matrooshi said: “The tourism industry plays a key role in raising awareness about environmental protection. Part of Ajman’s Vision 2021 is to create a green economy so we are pleased to partner with EEG to develop strategies and implement practices that will better preserve our environment. Some hotels in Ajman are now employing ways to protect the environment in terms of waste management and by partnering with EEG we hope to further improve the process and encourage other hoteliers to do the same.”

Under the MoU, EEG will support Ajman Tourism’s environmental activities, trainings and workshops to educate the industry about environment protection.

As a non-governmental professional working group, EEG has been at the forefront of environmental protection through the means of education, action programmes and community involvement, and has contributed greatly to the advancement of sustainable development the UAE.

Al Marashi added: “It is with great pleasure that we are partnering with Ajman Tourism Department on educational programmes to protect the environment. We will be working closely with them throughout the year to educate the industry through a number of lectures, workshops and practical activities. We are confident that our partnership with ATDD will have a positive impact not only in Ajman community but on the UAE as a whole.”
