Abu Dhabi - MENA Herald:

As part of Siemens’ new structure outlined under Vision 2020+, the company announced the heads of the three Operating Companies that will lead its core businesses in the Middle East. Dietmar Siersdorfer will head ‘Gas and Power’, while Franco Atassi will lead “Smart Infrastructure’ and Uwe Troeger the ‘Digital Industries’ Operating Company. Under the new structure and with the help of its strong brand, Siemens aims to give the individual businesses more entrepreneurial freedom and a leaner company structure, accelerating growth and sharpening focus on their respective markets. With the new set-up, Siemens is eliminating the company’s divisions: Building Technologies, Energy Management, Power and Gas, Digital Factory and large parts of its Process Industries and Drives Division, to form the three new companies.

Under Siersdorfer’s leadership, the Gas and Power business in the Middle East will focus on bringing the latest innovations in power generation to meet the growth requirements of countries in the region. It will address the challenges and opportunities energy transformation presents. These include decarbonization of fossil fuels; decentralized energy systems; and digitalization with its power to derive value from data and improve asset performance. Siersdorfer will continue to serve as the regional CEO of Siemens in the Middle East, a position he’s held since 2013.

For Smart Infrastructure, Atassi will work with customers in the region to deliver solutions for smart cities and sustainable environments, using Siemens’ strengths in electrification, automation and digitalization. The operating company marries energy supply - spanning intelligent control across the grid, solutions from medium voltage substations and points of consumption – with building technology. Bringing these elements together enables a more effective use of energy and opens opportunities ranging from energy storage and prosumption to electric infrastructure and microgrids.  Atassi joins Siemens in the Middle East from the company’s operations in the United States where he was the Global Head of the Life Science Business at Siemens Building Technologies Global, as well as the regional head of the Healthcare Business Segment at Siemens Building Technologies Americas.

Uwe Troeger will drive the Digital Industries company, by bringing the latest solutions within Siemens’ Digital Enterprise to the Middle East’s burgeoning industrial sector. By using end-to-end digitalization of the entire value chain, regional companies can leapfrog other markets globally and enjoy greater flexibility and higher productivity without compromising on security. Troeger brings 30 years of experience in international business across oil and gas, industrial automation, process industries, and digitalization.
