Dubai - MENA Herald:

New Zealand has just revealed a wonderful design for its Expo 2020 Dubai pavilion.

The two-island nation has always been a vocal supporter of Expo 2020 and the effort put into its pavilion illustrates the importance placed on this global platform, which will include 180 participating nations.

Inspired by waka taonga, New Zealand’s pavilion brings to life a Māori tradition of protecting valuable items in intricate containers.

Visitors to the 2,000 square metre pavilion are sure to be awed by the complex design that goes beyond the expected exhibition space to also include a restaurant, design store and hosting facilities.

New Zealand is among the first countries to publicly reveal the design of its pavilion – kick-starting an exciting period in the journey to 2020 as nations finalise their plans to showcase their achievements, aspirations and culture.

New Zealand will promote its core values of ingenuity, integrity and kaitiakitanga – the Māori term for guardianship, which describes the deep kinship between humans and nature. Consequently, the pavilion will be located within the Sustainability Themed District, reflecting the country’s focus on protecting the planet and its commitment to renewable energy.

Through its main theme, ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, Expo 2020 will offer a platform to encourage creativity, innovation and collaboration, based on the subthemes Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability.

The six-month event opens on 20 October, 2020 and expects to welcome 25 million visits, with an unprecedented 70 per cent of visitors coming from outside the UAE.
