DEWA promotes fourth-generation government excellence system

Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has begun implementation of the fourth generation system. This began with a lecture on the mechanism of immediate Implementation of the fourth generation of government excellence. The lecture was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, Ahmed Al Nuseirat, Coordinator General of the Dubai Government Excellence Program, in addition to Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, and a large number of DEWA employees. This supports the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to implement the fourth generation of the government excellence system.
Al Nuseirat congratulated DEWA on winning 6 awards at the 19th Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) Awards, and commended DEWA on its efforts on government excellence. Al Nuseirat affirmed that the team of the Dubai Government Excellence Program immediately took the necessary steps to apply the fourth generation of the government excellence system, based on the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, so government organisations will be evaluated according to the system starting from the 20th Dubai Government Excellence Program (DGEP) Awards.
The team of DGEP Awards showed goals and immediate executive mechanisms needed to apply the fourth generation of the government excellence system. The fourth generation of the government excellence system will upgrade the system of government work based on an innovative basis and standards based on the excellence in government performance and services in three main areas: achievement of the vision, innovation and enablers to attain the highest satisfaction rates and people's satisfaction. This contributes towards achieving the Dubai Plan 2021.
“We take great inspiration from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. DEWA was one of the first government organisations to implement this system, in line with HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who said, “The gates of future governments will not allow traditional ideas and outdated work methods to pass.” The system supports the UAE’s vision to become one of the best countries in the world by 2021. It also supports the programmes and projects adopted by the UAE government to develop and improve services, and framework to improve government performance throughout,” said Al Tayer.
“In adherence with the directives of the wise government, we have adopted this model based on innovative criteria, as well as a proactive approach towards the development of future governments. Through the adoption of the fourth generation of government excellence system, we intend to strengthen innovation and achieve the highest levels of satisfaction and happiness of our staff. We also aims to strengthen the overall competitiveness of the UAE by positioning it at the forefront in all global indicators, while achieving the long-term sustainability of our results. The system improves performance and efficiency to provide our services at the highest possible international standards. This supports the directives of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. DEWA has examined the structure and resources required for the implementation of the fourth generation model. We worked with the government team at the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Dubai,” added Al Tayer.
“DEWA works within the major pillars of the fourth generation of the government excellence system. DEWA employs innovation and creativity in all daily tasks to further enhance performance, efficiency, and services to the highest levels, not only at national and regional levels, but at global levels as well, enabling us to move closer to more advanced stages of excellence and leadership,” continued Al Tayer.
DEWA has included several key objectives within its strategy map with a focus on forward-looking innovation and smart services to consolidate excellence and innovation. This will also promote closer relationships with all stakeholders to achieve common strategic goals. We will apply creative ideas, and innovative approaches that are fundamental to our daily work at DEWA. The fourth generation of the government excellence system observes differences and privacy in the nature of work of institutions, and focuses on results achieved by the parties in accordance with the tasks assigned to them to achieve the national agenda. It motivates the institutions to look for future and keep pace with latest developments. It also focuses on ensuring a competitive advantage for the government and the institution that implements it. The 20th Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP) will start applying the fourth generation of the government excellence system, government organisations will be evaluated according to the system.
