Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has organised a Creativity Lab workshop, with the theme ‘Partnership for the Future,’ which was attended by strategic partners. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to enhance and support strategic partnerships with the public and private sectors. The workshop was held at the One&Only Royal Mirage Hotel in Dubai, to strengthen ongoing cooperation with partners to achieve sustainable development in the UAE, the UAE Vision 2021, and the Dubai Plan 2021.
The workshop was attended by a large number of specialists and stakeholders from different organisations. DEWA presented its corporate strategy and sustainable partnerships. The presentation was followed by a group of brainstorming sessions to discuss DEWA’s smart initiatives to support the Smart Dubai initiative. The participants showed interest in DEWA’s Shams Dubai initiative, which encourages building owners to install photovoltaic panels on their rooftops to generate electricity from solar power. The electricity is used onsite and the surplus is exported to DEWA’s network.
The workshop also addressed DEWA’s Green Charger initiative, which includes establishing charging stations for vehicles in various areas of Dubai and to enhance grid efficiency. In addition to this, the workshop highlighted the importance of corporate sustainability, and ways to develop it.
“DEWA is committed to enhancing cooperation with all strategic partners, to achieve the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which highlights the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to make major leaps forward in our efforts to achieve the UAE Vision 2021, and the Dubai Plan 2021, which forms the roadmap for ambitious initiatives and development projects, to provide the best international services and adopt best practices based on international standards. Today’s workshop supports our efforts to achieve our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, and the Smart Dubai initiative, launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to make Dubai the happiest and smartest city in the world,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“Through the Creativity Lab, we aim to brief our partners about DEWA’s Strategic Plan 2021, and introduce them to the objectives of the next phase. This builds closer ties and increases the happiness of all stakeholders. DEWA is committed to exchanging skills, expertise, and best international practices with our partners, across several mutual areas of interest, including sustainability and corporate partnerships. DEWA is committed to achieving corporate sustainability at the highest level, to achieve the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which acts a roadmap to ensure a brighter and happier future for Dubai. Achieving sustainability is part of DEWA’s strategy, corporate directives, and culture,” added Al Tayer.
Al Tayer noted that 2015’s Sustainability Culture Index study gained the interest of many DEWA employees, reflecting their eagerness to adopt the concept of sustainability as a standard government culture. This also shows DEWA’s commitment to improving its corporate performance, instilling its culture of sustainability among all staff, while enhancing their potential and skills based on the highest international standards.
