Dubai - MENA Herald:

As the UAE celebrates its 47th National Day, 5 female Emirati Artists have come together to showcase their work in tribute to the late Sheik Zayed and his vision. The photography exhibition “Emirates Photos” was officially opened to the public on the evening of the 25th of November at Central Park Towers in DIFC. The artwork on display was unveiled by Khalil Abdulwahid of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority and Jassim Al Awadhi prominent Emirati photographer and artist who were on hand to lend their support to the talented female photography group.

A photograph has the enviable quality of encapsulating a thousand words in one instant and with five female Emirati artists; the exhibition gives us an unparalleled opportunity to see the UAE in its 47th year through their very specific perspectives as they commemorate the country’s late and great founder and leader.

The exhibition with the support of the Akas Visual Arts Company at The Cube in Central Park Towers, showcases the works of Dr. Mona Bafaqeeh, Ms. Mona Al Tamimi, Ms. Seham Mohammed, Ms. Mariam Shaheen, and Ms. Mariam Al Suwaidi. The exhibition, open till December 6th, provides a unique female perspective into the Emirati culture and heritage as it has evolved and developed over the past 47 years and the impact of the late Sheikh Zayed’s legacy.

Dr. Mona Bafaqeeh, linguist & faculty at Khalifa University by day, explained; “We are incredibly passionate about capturing and reflecting the different aspects of the Emirati culture through our art and we collectively felt that the year of Zayed was the perfect opportunity to showcase our work together.”

Mona Al Tamimi, a photographer by instinct since her early childhood, also echoed Dr. Bafaqeeh’s sentiments wanting to honour the UAE and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan by highlighting the values of the UAE through her art. Similarly, Seham, Mariam Shaheen and Mariam Alsuwaidi, have contributed to the exhibition a collection of fascinating portraits alongside surprisingly intimate shots from the Emirati streets and looming landscapes.

Susan Mikloska, Director of Marketing at Central Park Towers, DIFC commented “We are pleased to host this unique photo exhibition and are very supportive of young artistic talents in our local thriving art community. To feature an exhibition of Emirati female photographers during our National Day celebrations is a welcome honour”

The exhibition is running from November 25th to December 6th at The Cube in Central Park Towers DIFC. Members of the public are invited to view the exhibition from 10 am to 8 pm.
