Dubai - MENA Herald: BinSina Pharmacies, part of Al Khayyat Investments, launched a blood drive campaign, in collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority to meet the needs of their blood bank, and in line with the nation-wide “Year of Giving”.
The blood drive was well received by employees at BinSina, Al Khayyat Investments, as more than 200 people took part in the drive at the Group’s headquarters in Dubai Investment Park, where a mobile blood donation unit was set up.
This staggering response was driven by the donors’ belief in the importance of keeping sufficient blood reserves to cover the needs of hospitals and medical centers especially during surgeries or emergencies where patients require blood transfusion.
Commenting on the event, Zaid Al Khayyat, Managing director and board member at Al Khayyat Investments, stressed that this initiative has achieved two foundational objectives of the three main objectives in the Year of Giving plan. The first was fulfilling the sense of community responsibility private enterprises owe towards the state to help it in its developmental journey, and the second was displaying a spirit of volunteerism in all segments of UAE society. It’s important to point out that the principle of generosity and its values are some of the most important features of UAE society.
Al Khayyat pointed out that BinSina Pharmacy drew itself a plan of action to expand on the idea of generosity as a key feature of Emirati society by supporting humanitarian thinking in the country, stressing on the fact that humanitarianism is an indicator of the quality and advancement of a society.
In light of the positive response to the campaign, Dr. May Raouf, Director and head of Dubai Blood Donation Centre commended BinSina on its initiative, confirming that the private sector is a key partner in the development process and that their generosity is anticipated during the Year of Giving.
Dr. May stressed that these expectations in the health sector are met because the most important point of focus during the Year of Giving is benefitting humanity. She also pointed out that herself and UAE society are looking forward to seeing other initiatives in the health field.
During the drive, BinSina was also responsible for recruiting donors, registering them, providing refreshments, and informing the public of the benefits of donating blood.
