Dubai - MENA Herald: Google announced today its 16th annual Year in Search, offering a unique look at the year’s top trends based on searches conducted using the Google search engine in the UAE.
The results showcase an interest in international sports events, with the UEFA Euro 2016 topping the most trending queries list of 2016 followed by Pokemon Go. In the events category, the most trending events in the UAE were Brexit and the 2016 Oscars, followed by Eid Al Adha and the Fly Dubai Crash. The most trending public figures in the UAE included celebrities and political figures such as US president-elect Donald Trump and Indian actress Pratyusha Banerjee. In the category of most trending destinations in the UAE, “IMG World” topped the list followed by “Legoland Dubai” and “Dubai Opera”.
Commenting about the report, Joyce Baz, Head of Communications at Google, Middle East and North Africa said: “We always look forward to this part of the year where we share how the world searched for 2016. Year in Search is a look back at what caught the attention and curiosity of our users in the Middle East and North Africa over the past 12 months and as always, the results are diverse in the UAE."
