Muscat - MENA Herald:

Réseaux IP Européens Network Coordination Centre (RIPE NCC) successfully held an IPv6 workshop in Oman, in partnership with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in line with its efforts to raise awareness on IPv6 deployment for public and private organizations. Government telecommunications employees and key stakeholders from the private sector took part in the training to learn how to work with IPv6 and its effective implementation.

The RIPE NCC has developed various initiatives to support its members with technical expertise related to the Internet infrastructure including IPv6 deployment. The training, held recently, taught participants basic concepts of IPv6 to advanced IPv6 related issues.

Paul Rendek, Director of External Relations at the RIPE NCC, noting the success of the event, said: “The success of and demand for these workshops shows the Oman telecom sector’s commitment to furthering their engagement in the nation’s transition to IPv6. The workshop provided the participants with expert guidance on the technical aspects of transitioning to IPv6 and we are confident this will accelerate their shift to the new IP version.”

The RIPE NCC seeks to continuously strengthen its partnerships with members including government entities and law enforcement agencies to develop effective solutions to deal with cybercrime and other challenges through IPv6 migration.

The rapid growth in digital technology has stimulated huge demand for Internet services and brought social and economic development globally. By sharing expertise with network operators to help their networks become future-proof, the RIPE NCC is helping to drive sustainable development and economic growth across its service region.
