Dubai South Achieves ISO 27001:2013 Certification for Information Security Management Systems

Monday 25 January 2016

Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Aviation City Corporation (DACC), the parent organization of Dubai South, has received the ISO 27001:2013 certification, which outlines the globally-recognized benchmarks for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving the organization’s Information Security Management System (ISMS).

The certification signifies that the Dubai South has designed, implemented and maintained a coherent set of policies, processes and systems to manage risks to its information assets, thus ensuring only acceptable levels of information security risk.

The certificate was awarded to Dubai South by the Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), a UK-based global standards institution, in the presence of H.E. Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman, Dubai Aviation City Corporation, Ahmed Al Ansari, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Dubai South and Mohammed Muthanna, Vice President, Information Technology, Dubai South.

Dubai South attained the certification following an external assessment process, which rigorously examined its internal machinery to secure and protect all financial, legal and personal data, and factored in critical input from DACC employees and clients.

Commenting on the accomplishment, Khalifa Al Zaffin said that the ISO certification was an important validation of Dubai South’s ongoing commitment to deploy robust information management systems, policies and processes in line with global standards. He said that the certification would further enhance DACC’s reputation among its stakeholders as a reliable custodian of information, ensuring appropriate controls in place to prevent and manage risks in the unlikely event of a breach. He also indicated that the ISO 27001:2013 ISMS Certification would offer added assurance to existing and potential customers that Dubai South deploys dynamic information security practices in sync with global standards.

Historically, the UAE has led the MENA region in terms of the number of organizations that have undergone stringent quality assessments and successfully achieved ISO certification. ISO 27001:2013 is the only auditable international standard which defines the requirements for ISMS, and is published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the world’s largest developer and publisher of international standards required to install and sustain qualitative practices in organizations worldwide.
