DSG signs MoU with DAFZA to provide support for electronic and smart services

H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, Director General of Dubai Smart Government Department (DSG), and H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Director General of Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority (DAFZA), have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen mutual co-operation.

Under the MoU, DSG will provide the necessary support for the package of its electronic and smart shared services provided to DAFZA to ensure continuous readiness of these services and also specify the levels of support and priority-based response period.

The package of services which DAFZA benefits from include the Government Resources Planning Systems (GRPS), Government Information Network (GIN), MyID, ePay, Government Service Bus, Correspondence Tracking System, SMS Dubai, eSurvey, Happiness Meter, eHost, eComplain, eSuggest etc.

H.E. Ahmad Bin Humaidan, DSG Director General, said: “This bilateral co-operation has great significance and stands as a solid foundation to provide the necessary support to the electronic and smart services offered to DAFZA in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, to speed up transformation to smart government."

Bin Humaidan added: "DAFZA plays a key role in attracting investors through providing advanced infrastructure and services that encourage them to work in a secure environment in Dubai. Through our partnership we look forward to intensifying our joint efforts for our electronic and smart service that DAFZA benefits from to be available round the clock and in accordance with the highest standards of efficiency and reliability with the aim of ensuring the satisfaction and happiness of its customers including investors, entrepreneurs and regional and global companies. We are also fully committed to employing our sophisticated enablers including advanced infrastructure, smart apps and high-level technical support to enable DAFZA to keep updating its smart services and leave a positive imprint as regards making Dubai a smart, integrated and connected city."

Meanwhile, Dr. Al Zarooni said: "The MoU signed with DSG creates a robust foundation for establishing a strong, complementary relationship that adds value in terms of offering the highest standards of information security and supporting DSG’s services. This move is part of our ongoing commitment to keep pace with latest smart technologies and fast-emerging IT innovations in order to offer high-level services and solutions and increase customer satisfaction and happiness. We are upbeat about the MoU we have signed which complements our ongoing efforts to achieve the goals of the smart city initiative. It will enable us to raise the bar on IT infrastructure and offer integrated smart services that will further promote our position as one of the most advanced free zones in the world and support Dubai’s quest for a smart transformation.”

Al Zarooni stressed the importance of strengthening co-operation with DSG which is leading the way in building the innovative and proactive government of the future. He pointed out that the strategic partnership reflects DAFZA’s commitment to the smart transformation initiative launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support Dubai’s preparation to host World Expo 2020, which requires the provision of quality and high-value smart services, and make Dubai a smart and sustainable city as per Dubai Vision 2021.

The MoU stipulates the need to keep pace with training requirements and abide by the information security policies set by DSG to ensure the provision of a high degree of reliability. This is significant, since DSG has been awarded an ISO 20000:2011 Certification for IT service management which proves its commitment to the global IT standards for improving the performance of services in general and makes it highly qualified for effectively providing support services to government entities.
