Scientists and Experts Call for Developing Cooperative Models to Invest in Future Networks

Global scientists and experts called for developing new cooperative models for investing in the infrastructure of future networks, enhancing capabilities and competencies, rationalizing expenses that would support the future of networks technology, achieve sustainability, and create the adequate regulatory environment.

Participants in the Global Future Council on New Network Technologies, held as part of the third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils, stressed the importance of eliminating barriers that face the prevalence of future networks worldwide, especially with the significant development of the mobile phones industry driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

Participants highlighted the significance of leveraging the development of new networks’ technology in managing and employing data as well as designing evidence-based policies and forecasting the future needs in order to promote the infrastructure around the world.

The Council recommended governments to take balanced measures in their response to the 4IR and the opportunities it offers, while forecasting the future of new networks, finding innovative solutions to leverage them, and focusing on the future at all levels to serve mankind.

The council stressed that world governments need to reach a common understanding on the importance of long-term thinking, and focus on new network technologies in this rapidly changing world. In addition, they need to focus on continuous development of capabilities, support the development of future use of networks, and promote future-oriented thinking.

The third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils is held in Dubai, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in collaboration between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum. The meetings bring together more than 700 of the most relevant and knowledgeable scientists, futurists and experts, grouped in 38 expertise-based, thematic councils that discuss the future of vital sectors and develop practical solutions to challenging issues.
