Dubai - MENA Herald:

MUVSmart won the second phase of the GovHack Series, held in Santiago, Chile, beating 11 other start-ups in the competition organized by the World Government Summit Organization.

The company is now in the running for the upcoming GovTech Prize, which will be awarded at the 7th edition of the World Government Summit, held in Dubai, UAE in February 2019.

The GovHack Series competition is an opportunity for tech start-ups to harness their innovative creativity to help governments address challenges in serving citizens over the next 50 years. The two-day event brought together government officials, private sector leaders and the start-up community to discuss the projected societal megatrends in environment and health, as explored in the World Government Summit’s Government in 2071: Guidebook, and examine technological solutions to help us navigate these shifts.

In preparing for the final presentations, the 12 Chilean start-ups all participated in the ‘StartUp2071’ workshop, which allowed them to test their solutions against the projected evolution of technology and society and provided them with a unique opportunity to adjust their designs and strategies to be future-ready.

The 12 Chilean start-ups then presented their solutions before a panel of experts from the public and private sectors, showcasing how they tackled obstacles or captured opportunities within the environment and healthcare sectors. As part of their final assessment, judges evaluated the pitches’ readiness for the future.

His Excellency Abdelrazaq Hadi, the Ambassador of UAE in Chile, attended the second day of the event, which featured conversations on the societal megatrends expected to alter the environment and health dimensions.

His Excellency Ambassador Hadi stated, “The GovHack Santiago is an exciting first step and we see this as a bridge for future collaborations that lead to shared prosperity between our two nations, Latin America and globally, as well. "

The Ambassador expressed his wishes for all participants to benefit from this valuable initiative that motivates start-ups to use these concepts to innovate new products and services that will create a clean environment and unique healthcare in Chile, Latin America and the world.

On the Chilean side, the guest of honor was His Excellency, Senador Francisco Chahuan, who expressed his support for this event, “We thank the World Government Summit and the government of UAE for this important initiative that incentivizes civil society, the private and public sectors to collaborate in finding innovative solutions for future issues in the health and environment sectors.

The GovHack Series tours eight major cities: New Delhi, Santiago, Washington D.C., Berlin, London, Tokyo, Cairo and Jakarta; and focuses on four main themes: Governance and Resilience, Environment and Health, Economy and Society, and Future and Progress. The Series seeks to empower young minds to develop innovative ideas for government services by identifying the most promising emerging companies and allowing them to compete. The Series’ third phase is set to kick off in Washington D.C.

A Chance to Compete for the Grand Prize

Start-ups who win the GovHack Series in their respective cities receive a monetary prize, as well as the opportunity to compete for the grand global prize at the World Government Summit 2019. Winners at the city level will also be invited to take part in Area 2071, an incubator in Dubai for potential partners to design the future.
