The Global Future Council on Information and Entertainment Examines Ways of Eliminating Digital Illiteracy

During the third annual meeting of the Global Future Councils, the Global Future Council on Information and Entertainment explored the future of the information and entertainment industry, and the impacts of advanced technologies on economic sustainability and transparency within this industry. The Council also highlighted ways of eliminating digital illiteracy and the challenges faced by online advertising.

Comprised of a group of experts in information and entertainment systems, the Council discussed the commercial and regulatory aspects that impact sustainability, transparency, eliminating digital illiteracy mechanisms. The meeting discussed ways of supporting innovative economy and information systems, with the aim to enhance the technological aspect that affect daily lives, especially those that are related to machine learning and Blockchain.

The participants reviewed the technological implication on the future of information and entertainment and the challenges that face online content. They also discussed ways to enhance the levels of confidence in this content by increasing the accuracy and credibility that contribute to enhancing the future of information and entertainment, and contribute to the development of global wellbeing.

The participants also highlighted the challenges that arise from inaccuracy while handling information. They noted the negative effects of such inaccuracy which poses digital risks and a gap due to the fact that we depend on information in our daily transactions and daily lives, whether in electronic economic transaction, or daily use such as education and getting information.

They also stressed the importance of governments and entrepreneurs’ endeavors to build trust with advanced technologies through certain procedures that contribute to limiting digital gaps and activating accountability. This aims to increase information transparency levels and enhance the innovative economy that is based on technological systems.

The third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils is held in Dubai, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in collaboration between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum. The meetings bring together more than 700 of the most relevant and knowledgeable scientists, futurists and experts, grouped in 38 expertise-based, thematic councils that discuss the future of vital sectors and develop practical solutions to challenging issues.
