DEWA strengthens ties with Cisco

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received a delegation from Cisco Systems, one of the world's leading IT and networking companies. The visit underpins DEWA’s collaboration with international companies to share best practices and share knowledge in the Information Technology sector.

The delegation included Chris Dedicoat, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales, David Meads, Vice President for the Middle East and Africa and Shukri Eid, Managing Director, East Region, Cisco Middle East. The meeting was attended by Marwan bin Haider, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future at DEWA.

Al Tayer welcomed the delegation and briefed them on the efforts of DEWA and its initiatives to achieve the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for Dubai's digital transformation, and the Smart Dubai initiative to transform Dubai into the smartest and most successful city in the world.

DEWA has also implemented several smart procedures in electricity networks, and is using SCADA systems, and smart monitoring devices, as well as control and automation systems to provide electricity and water services to the highest standards of availability, efficiency, and reliability. The Smart Grid is a key component of DEWA’s strategy to develop advanced infrastructure to support Dubai's efforts to become a smart and happy city.

Al Tayer briefed Cisco on the latest services and solutions in digital transformation sector. The delegation expressed their appreciation for what DEWA has achieved and expressed interest in participating in DEWA’s projects in Dubai.
