Sharjah Puts Economic Diversification under the Spotlight at AIM 2019

The Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah) will be facilitating the participation of five leading Sharjah government entities at the ninth edition of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM 2019), scheduled to take place on April 8–10, 2019 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. 

A world leading platform for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), the upcoming three-day event is expected to showcase investment opportunities in 140 countries under one roof, and carries the theme, ‘Mapping the Future of FDI: Enriching World Economies through Digital Globalization’ this year.

Among participating entities are the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah), the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD), Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) and Sharjah Media City (SHAMS).

As the Sharjah FDI Office (Invest in Sharjah), it has been Invest in Sharjah’s constant and continued endeavour to highlight the diversity of promising investment opportunities in the emirate’s fast-growing commercial sectors. Among these are Healthcare, Education, Environment, Light Manufacturing, Tourism & Leisure and Transport & Logistics.

Each entity will offer investors insights into the growing investment climate of Sharjah, highlighting the growth achieved in the sectors mentioned. Visitors can expect to learn more about the emirate’s investment-friendly and stable business environment, excellent connectivity through air and sea, sophisticated infrastructure, open market policies and flexible legislations.

Mohammed Juma Al Musharrkh, CEO of Invest in Sharjah, has highlighted that the entities participating will be showcasing up-to-date information, strategies and knowledge on attracting FDI into Sharjah, and they look forward to connecting investors and countries to the right opportunities in the emirate.  

He said: “Sharjah’s continued FDI growth is a reflection of our government’s strategic vision, based on ambitious socioeconomic development policies and initiatives that have made the emirate’s investment environment prominent, and cemented Sharjah’s reputation as a destination of choice for investors, MSMEs as well as individual entrepreneurs.”

“Our economy’s capacity to realise the aspirations and meet the expectations of investors is owed to our strong, diversified economy.,” he further noted.

The emirate is home to the six specialised free zones catering at specific sectors of business and investment. They are Sharjah International Airport Free Zone (SAIF ZONE), Al Hamriya Free Zone, Sharjah Media City (SHAMS), Sharjah Healthcare City, Sharjah Publishing City, and Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP).
