Sharjah Chamber to Organize “Rwanda Investment Showcase” Forum to Bolster Infrastructure and Construction Sectors

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) is organizing jointly with Botho Emerging Markets Group, Rwanda, a forum entitled “Rwanda Investment Showcase”. The forum, which will be held on 23 April at the SCCI’s headquarters, comes as part of the Chamber’s efforts and plans to enhance the position of Sharjah as an investment destination and to build fruitful partnerships with countries all over the world.

The event will be attended by His Excellency Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Yasmin Amri, Consul General of Rwanda, UAE, Uday Bhasin, Senior Partner, Tradeways, Sanjeev Gupta, Executive Director & Head of Financial Services, Africa Finance Corporation and Zahara Malik, CEO, Grosvenor Capital; Advisor, Botho Emerging Markets Group.

The forum will be discussing areas of cooperation between the Republic of Rwanda and Sharjah to enhance bilateral relations towards further growth and prosperity.

In this context, H.E. Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said: “The Chamber is keen to develop the economic relations, and enhance trade and investment exchange between Sharjah and Republic of Rwanda. Also, we will discuss the means of bolstering topics of common concern that serve the interests of business communities on both sides.

“This forum represents a real opportunity to foster investment cooperation with the Republic of Rwanda, so as to bear fruits of this partnership in line with the Chamber’s strategy. This strategy aims at promoting the prosperity of business sectors and enhancing their capabilities through the coordination with Rwanda’s relevant economic official government authorities through the establishment of the best economic and development practices, as well as increasing the rates of trade exchange and investment inflows,” added Al Owais.

He emphasized the Sharjah Chamber’s keenness to achieve the objectives of the National Agenda through the adoption of institutional work programmes and mechanisms. This will contribute to driving development across all sectors.

Al Owais further said: "Our aim is to boost the joint work through diversifying and expanding our partnerships with various countries around the world with a view to consolidating the UAE’s position as a world hub for trade and investment.”

The Chairman of the SCCI expressed the hope that this forum will help advance cooperation and coordination between UAE’s and Rwanda’s business communities. This will help serve the Chamber’s orientations towards discovering the promising African markets.

“This comes as part of the SCCI’s strategy to increase exports of our local products and to shed light on the investment destinations before the UAE’s private sector in order to establish joint ventures in various sectors and to increase growth opportunities and advancement in all areas,” Al Owais pointed out.
