Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz on Thursday unveiled development projects worth more than SAR 7 billion for Hail during a visit to the north-western region, the second stopover of a royal tour across the Kingdom.
The projects – some completed, while others are being launched - will significantly boost development of the Hail region as they cover a wide range of economic segments including energy and industry; military; housing; education; transport; tourism; and environment, water and agriculture.
The King arrived in Hail on Wednesday evening from Qassim, a central region. In Qassim, King Salman marked the completion of 402 projects across 12 government sectors, worth SAR 12.15 billion. He also laid the foundations for 199 new or planned projects across five government sectors there, worth a total of SAR 4.2 billion. Those government-sector projects will benefit a wide range of sectors such as transport, education, roads, environment, water and electricity, public services and housing.
At Hail airport, the King was received by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as well as Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of Hail, other princes and senior officials, SPA reported.
These projects include Saudi Commission for Tourism & National Heritage completed projects valued at SAR 7.87 million and ground-breaking projects worth SAR 66.28 million.
The Saudi Arabian National Guard finished projects worth SAR 1.13 billion, and Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs completed projects worth of SAR 562 million and ground-breaking projects worth SAR 696 million.
The total value of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture inaugurated projects stood at SAR 543 million, and ground-breaking projects were at SAR 416 million.
Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources inaugurated projects amounted to SAR 1.877 billion.
For the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Education, a total of SAR 922 million and SAR 709 million in inaugurated projects were on the cards, respectively. The Ministry of Transport had SAR 295 million in ground-breaking projects unveiled by the King.
During his nationwide tour, the King is expected to launch many projects and initiatives, as he monitors the living conditions of Saudi citizens and acquaints himself with their needs, according to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The King is accompanied by a number of princes and senior officials.
King Salman’s visit to Qassim followed a long list of royal visits to the region that lies about 400km northwest of the capital, Riyadh. Similar visits were undertaken by King Abdulaziz in 1326 Hijri (1908); and his sons King Saud in 1373H (1954), King Faisal in 1393H (1973), King Khaled 1401H (1981), King Fahd in 1408 H (1988) and King Abdullah in 1427 H (2006).
