Brazilian imports to Arab Countries reach USD 1.22 billion in February 2019

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) has revealed that a total of USD 1.22 billion worth of Brazilian products were imported into Arab countries for the month of February this year--representing a 7 per cent increase from the USD 1.14 billion posted over the same period in 2018.

According to ABCC senior officials, the top Brazilian imports to Arab countries include mineral fuels, mineral oils, bituminous substances and mineral waxes; fertilizers; plastics and articles; salt, Sulphur, earth and stone, plastering materials, lime and cement; fish and crustaceans, mollusks and other aquatic invertebrates; aluminum and its related articles and organic chemicals.

The report, which covers the month of February of this year, show that Algeria lead the Arab countries with Brazilian imports totaling up to USD 425 million, followed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) with USD 372.8 million, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with USD 102.47 million and Egypt with USD 61.2 million.  Accordingly, Algeria imported over 955.65 thousand tonnes, followed by the KSA with 742.73 thousand tonnes, the UAE with 223.55 thousand tonnes and Egypt with 201.67 thousand tonnes.

“These latest figures posted for the month of February 2019 demonstrate the strength of the increased trade ties between Brazil and Arab countries. It is also a fitting testament to the countries continuing commitment towards working closely with countries in the Arab world to help drive in more mutual trade growth across all market segments.” Concluded Rubens Hannun, President of ABCC.
