Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a leading financial institution, has received the award for ‘Best Islamic Financier’ at the International Trade Finance Awards 2019. The accolade recognises ADIB’s leadership in Sharia’a-compliant project finance and the significant role it plays in enabling businesses of all sizes to optimise trade finance transactions.
Each year, the International Trade Finance Awards are presented to banks and trade finance arrangers that have made a major contribution towards global flows of business and commerce. Winners are decided by an expert panel of trade specialists who independently review all nominations against a series of benchmarks.
Commenting on the award, Haytham El Maayergi, Global Head of Transaction Banking at ADIB, said: "At ADIB, we are aware of the growing appetite for Islamic trade finance solutions from organisations of all sizes. We have invested heavily in our Sharia’a-compliant cash and trade management solutions and introduced industry-leading technology to make our trade finance proposition more cost and time efficient. We maintain a large correspondent banking network and can shorten the working capital cycle of companies to reduce risk and support the growth of any business, from major multinationals to nascent SMEs. This award is testament to the efforts of the team at ADIB, who continue to push the boundaries of what Islamic trade finance can achieve.”
Global Transaction Banking and Trade Finance are growth areas for ADIB. The bank has invested heavily in technology to enhance its portfolio of solutions that can support the working capital needs of companies. ADIB has long been an active participant and proponent of the UAE private sector and has launched a multichannel offering, led by its dedicated mobile banking app for corporate and business clients, to further support its growth and development. The bank provides award-winning exports and imports financing for a wide array of companies across its international network.
ADIB has received numerous awards for its leading banking proposition in recent months, including ‘World’s Best Islamic Bank’ by the FT’s The Banker Magazine, ‘Best Premium Banking Service in the UAE’ from Banker Middle East, and ‘Private Bank in the Middle East for Islamic Finance’ by Private Banker International.
