Musanada to Deliver the Federal Supreme Court Building in Abu Dhabi in 2019

Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) has revealed that it has commenced construction works of the federal supreme court building in Abu Dhabi as per the agreed plans. This forms part of the Company’s efforts to contribute to achievement of the objectives of Abu Dhabi Plan; enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the litigation process and ensuring the effectiveness of the criminal justice system, by supporting the judicial institutions and judges, and providing a comfortable setting for litigants supporting the judicial system as a whole, in line with the development witnessed by the UAE across all levels including the social and economic fronts.

“Construction works in the building project actually started last July,” commented Eng. Mohamed Omar Al Hashmi, Musanada’s Buildings Acting Director. “Once completed and the construction work is over, the building will provide a wide range of services to customers, including Customer Service, Customers’ Free Services Center, E-Record which will record and register court cases, Translation Services which will cover several languages, as well as the Notification Office which will advise parties of the timings of the sessions and the Registry Section which receives the case and communicates with judges throughout to announcement of the ruling,” he added.

Featuring a very prominent and pivotal location that hosts a number of important government headquarters such as the general secretariat of the executive council, the attorney general building and the exhibitions area within Abu Dhabi island, this AED159.5-Million project, will comprise construction of two underground floors, a ground floor and three upper floors with a total floor area of approximately 15,000 square meters (not including the basement area) with the total built up area of the project estimated to be 25,000 square meters.

Planned to be completed by Q1 of 2019, the project will encompass 6 large courts, an office for the chief judge, 13 offices for judges, a meeting hall for the members, a library, administrative offices, customers’ transaction hall, a meeting hall. The building will also include detention rooms, a large library, a majlis, multi-purpose offices, in addition to an auditorium, prayer rooms, lawyers rooms and parking lots for 136 cars. The project will also encompass all the technical, security and mechanical equipment that will facilitate the functioning of the building and maintain safety and confidentiality.

Classical and Modern Design

“Following a careful and diligent study of all the necessary requirements, Musanada has implemented the construction plan of the new court building, developed based on a classical design within a modern context in a way that will keep pace with the current time and highlight the important features of the distinctive government buildings. Musanada is actively engaged in construction of smart and green buildings that deploy the most efficient systems, including state-of-the-art technologies, as well as the building materials that provide a sustainable working environment and help reduce consumption of energy and various resources,” Al Hashmi concluded.
