Dubai Land Department organises real estate developer gathering in preparation for MIPIM France

Dubai Land Department (DLD) , organised today the Meet Up, a gathering of real estate developers, in collaboration with Reed MIDEM SAS to participate in the 30th edition of MIPIM France from 12th – 15th March 2019. The meet-up was held under the theme ‘Dubai at MIPIM’, and encourages real estate developers to join Dubai’s delegation at the world-renowned real estate exhibition under the umbrella of DLD to represent the Emirate and provide a bright picture of its real estate sector.

The meet-up was inaugurated with an opening speech by HE Sultan Butti bin Mejren, Director General of DLD, followed by a welcoming speech made by HE Majida Ali Rashid, Assistant Director General, Head of the Real Estate Investment Management and Promotion Centre at DLD. The attendees also listened to speeches by Aqil Kazim, Chief Commercial Officer at Nakheel, and Filippo Rean, Director of Real Estate Division at Reed MIDEM SAS. Meet Up was attended by more than 200 major real estate developers, notably Nakheel , MAG Lifestyle Development , Falconcity of Wonders, and Dubai South, as well as representatives from Expo 2020.

In his opening speech, HE Sultan Butti bin Mejren said that the participation at MIPIM contributes to strengthening Dubai’s position as the ‘Land of Opportunity and Creative Minds’, especially as it gained investor trust by offering a smart, safe, and sustainable environment. His Excellency stressed that the exhibition attracts developers from all over the world through the competitive options that are on offer for investors.

Bin Mejren added: “Through our participation in this year’s edition of MIPIM, we will highlight the various sustainability features of the Dubai real estate market and DLD’s efforts to pursue our wise leadership’s vision for leadership via its elements confidence, happiness, and innovation.”

HE Majida Ali Rashid stressed that the Meet Up is a celebration of the fruitful partnership that followed intensive meetings between DLD and organisers of the MIPIM exhibition in Cannes, France. DLD signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MIPIM to attract real estate developers to Dubai and increase their chances of participating in real estate exhibitions.

Her Excellency said: “All exhibitors and participants will benefit from the exhibition’s real estate climate under the umbrella of DLD, whose strategic objective is to upgrade the real estate sector to become a pioneer in innovation, confidence, and happiness. Dubai has become a global investment hub recognised by all parties, and in the next few years, we will witness a substantial leap in this sector with increased attractiveness and excellence.”

During the panel discussion, HE Marwan bin Ghalita, CEO of the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA) at DLD, commented: “Dubai won a global consensus for its transformation into a global investment hub with the support of a dedicated group of developers who provide the real estate sector with solutions and comprehensive options to meet the aspirations of all segments. Dubai’s investment horizon remains promising with guaranteed returns and a continued rise in real estate prices. Dubai offers a unique model of security, stability, and a strong regulatory environment that guarantees rights for all parties.”

Bin Ghalita added: “Today, real estate developers play a key role in attracting foreign investment to the Emirate due to the opportunities they provide to investors and to DLD’s smart service. This is evident by the fact that 47% of the investors are non-residents.”

Filippo Rean, Director of Real Estate Division at Reed MIDEM SAS, praised DLD’s eagerness to develop the existing partnership between the two parties in accordance with the MoU, and added: “DLD’s top management was successful in playing a key role in encouraging the Emirate’s developers to benefit from the opportunities offered by the exhibition. We have seen a high level of commitment at this Meet Up, and DLD will be able to achieve its objectives by participating in this event, attracting the elite developers who are able to represent Dubai’s real estate sector, and emerging as a competitor on the global economy.”

In addition to enhancing its relations with developers, DLD will work with its partners during the exhibition to attract investors. It will also utilise its platform to identify Dubai’s available investment opportunities and the services it offers through its advanced initiatives and solutions, including smart applications and services that ensure that customers can complete their transactions easily, transparently, and safely, remotely, and at any time.

DLD reached an understanding with the French Reed MIDEM SAS to promote real estate and enhance confidence in Dubai’s real estate sector through the existing relation between the two parties. The company will employ its expertise in this field in order to promote and highlight DLD’s services to investors and to Dubai’s real estate in France through MIPIM, in conjunction with the participation of DLD and its developer partners.
