Sharjah - MENA Herald:

The Badiri Business Entrepreneurship Programme (BBEP) is conducting its ‘Entrepreneur Development Camp” (EDC) for UAE-based women aged 18 and above, across the emirate of Sharjah. It is being held as an introductory phase to the Intensive Course of BBEP’s fifth edition.

The first series of EDCs, each lasting five days, began in March and will continue through April and May. They focus on developing key entrepreneurial competencies to prepare the participants for launching their start-ups, and also hone their skills and capabilities to face the challenges in the world of business.

The next workshop in the series will be held from April 21-2-5. The rest of the workshops will be held in Sharjah from April 28 to May 2, May 5-9, 12-16 and 19-23. The timings will be from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm, and during Ramadan from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm.

Badiri is still accepting applications for the remainder of the workshops. Participants can take the EDCs as an independent workshop, or as a prerequisite to the intensive programme, which enable the participants to learn key business skills to launch and run a successful business and receive business mentorship.

BBEP is the brainchild of the Badiri Education and Development Academy, the education and capacity development arm of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment. It is a mindset changing and entrepreneurship training programme, especially tailored for UAE women to strengthen their business acumen and enhance their entrepreneurial skills.

Reem Abdul-Hadi, a trainer in the field of women empowerment, and one of the EDC trainers said: “This workshop is a journey of self-discovery that identifies capabilities and ignites talents. It is aimed at empowering and stimulating the participants through interactive activities, discussions and brainstorming sessions, and encourage them to have an entrepreneurial mindset. The workshops educates participants on the best methods to develop their projects, develop marketing plans for their products, and ways of attracting investors.”

“Each workshop is designed to develop skills like communication, critical thinking and creative research that help generate innovative business ideas at the workplace or in their private businesses. Apart from paving a way to excellence, the workshops also enable the participants to take part in the fifth edition of BBEP’s Intensive programme” she added.

One of the participants, Ameera Rashid Al Kaabi, Administrative Officer at Sharjah City Municipality, said: “After just two days of attending the workshop, I discovered that I could come up with many entrepreneurial ideas. I learnt to prioritise my tasks and cannot wait to move on to the intensive programme. I highly recommend Badiri Education and Development Academy’s workshops and programmes to all the women that want to make a positive change in their lives.”

Reem BinKaram, Director of NAMA, said: “The key objective of the BBEP’s Entrepreneur Development Camp is to support engage women in programmes that develop their talents and potential. Taking part in the workshops makes them eligible for the intensive programme that includes training classes and sessions for 6-7 weeks, and technical support for 4-5 weeks.”

“The remarkable turnout of participants reflects their passion and desire to acquire new skills. Once the workshops and the broader programme are over, they will appreciate its great impact and how it enabled them to achieve their goals and ambitions,” she added.

Conducted in Arabic, BBEP is an inclusive business programme that helps the participants turn their ideas into start-ups. It aims to develop their entrepreneurial skills, in addition to educating them on all aspects and fields of start-ups and businesses, through action plans.
