Dubai - MENA Herald:

On the occasion of World Earth Day, Majid Al Futtaim, which operates Carrefour in 15 countries across the Middle East, Asia and Africa, today unveiled the new solar panels installed on their award-winning Carrefour Regional Distribution Centre in JAFZA, Dubai. The building’s rooftop is covered with an area of almost 12,000 m2 of solar panels, the largest on a facility of its kind in the GCC region. Using the latest technology, the estimated CO2 offset weighs 1,870 metric tons in one year, the equivalent of removing roughly 400 passenger cars from the street annually. The scale of the solar PV plant generates 30% of the electricity consumption necessary for its state-of-the-art warehousing facility launched in May 2018. This represents the latest milestone in Majid Al Futtaim’s ongoing commitment to become Net Positive by the year 2040 in carbon and water consumption.

Note – Majid Al Futtaim was recently presented with the Retail Supply Chain of the Year award by Logistics Middle East, for its Carrefour Regional Distribution Centre.
