Dubai - MENA Herald:

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), reviewed work progress of the Innovation Centre, one of the most futuristic projects within the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

During the visit, Al Tayer was accompanied by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA; Jamal Shaheen Al Hammadi, Vice President of Clean Energy & Diversification at DEWA; and a number of DEWA officials.

Al Tayer was briefed about the progress of the construction work of the Innovation Centre by representatives of the companies working on the project. Al Tayer emphasised the need to adhere to the highest standards of health, safety, and quality in the project.

The solar park is the largest single-site solar park in the world based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, with a capacity of 5000 megawatts (MW) by 2030 and total investments worth AED 50 billion.

The Innovation Centre aims to highlight the latest technologies related to solar and clean technology, enabling DEWA to showcase its achievements in renewable energy and sustainability as well as highlight the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 to make Dubai a global hub for clean energy and green economy.

The Innovation Centre’s unique design reflects the identity of the solar park, a pioneering example of sustainable development in the region and the world. The centre aims to support national capabilities in the energy field, enhance the competitiveness of Dubai's business, develop renewable energy technologies, support the development of the sector in the region, and promote awareness of climate change and sustainable energy as well as create special, interactive presentations, and educational trips for guests on solar energy.

The Centre will be a museum and exhibition of solar and renewable energy that will attract tourists, universities, schools, companies, and partners. It will be open to solar manufacturers and developers as it includes a specialised venue and a permanent conference centre for events, conferences, business meetings, training courses, and meetings about solar and renewable energy and other green initiatives. The building is 4,000 square metres and approximately 90 metres high, comprising four storeys.
