GE (NYSE: GE) hosted the One GE Power Partnership Summit on 18th April 2018, in Dubai, UAE, convening over 250 representatives of organizations working across the supply chain in the power sector from all over the region. The one-day forum highlighted GE’s commitment to driving a robust supply chain to serve the energy ecosystem in the region to be part of its strong footprint of regional services, repairs, manufacturing, projects and research and development initiatives that are helping to further diversify regional economies, create high-quality jobs, and contribute to all-round economic competitiveness.

An important impact of our presence in the region is the additional value created as we collaborate to strengthen indigenous supply chains and the industrial infrastructure,” said Mohammed Mohaisen, President & CEO of GE’s Grid Solutions business in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey. “Today, we see clear trends which indicate that the regional power ecosystem is undergoing a rapid transformation through the forces of diversification, digitization and decentralization. Our investment in a wide network of local suppliers and partners is part of our long-term commitment to the region and a critical means for us to best serve customers and meet the evolving needs of the energy sector. Ultimately, this helps to bring more reliable, efficient and sustainable power online to the benefit of millions of people across the region.”
The Summit also included a ‘Key Supplier’ awards ceremony to recognize the achievements of GE Power suppliers who delivered outstanding results in 2017 based on the quality of goods and services provided, ensuring timely project execution, driving competitive costs, as well as overall collaboration. Winners included Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh Cables Group Company, Egypt’s National Steel Fabrication and Iraq’s Sada Al Nugum Company.
Highlighting its commitment to strengthen the indigenous industrial ecosystem, GE Power worked with over 1,700 regional suppliers in 2017. Beyond the direct impact, as part of these collaborations, suppliers could develop further through opportunities such as GE’s trainings on global quality, environment, health, integrity and safety standards and working on industry-leading technologies and innovative projects.
GE has a significant legacy of supporting the development of industrial infrastructure in the UAE in addition to its contributions towards strengthening indigenous entrepreneurship and the regional supply chain. GE has set up the Middle East’s first GE Monitoring & Diagnostics Center in Jebel Ali that enables its customers to reduce operational downtime and scale up productivity through the real-time monitoring of its power plant assets. GE also has a Global Repair Solutions Jebel Ali Service Center which is the only facility of its kind in the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan region with two dedicated workshops – one each for gas turbines and generators – and can service power generation equipment by GE as well as other Original Equipment Manufacturers.
