Dubai Supreme Council of Energy signs MoU with Dubai Land Department

Dubai – MENA Herald : The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Land Department (DLD), during the Dubai Sustainable Cities Summit. The summit was organised by the Dubai Land Department in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

The MoU was signed by HE Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, Secretary General of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General of the Dubai Land Department, attended by their senior managers and executives. The MoU forms the foundation for further cooperation in energy demand side management, to draw an energy-intensity map of Dubai.

“In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the United Arab Emirates Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to enhance the development of sustainability in the emirate, and adhering to the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, we are working towards becoming the city with the lowest Carbon Footprint in the world,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice-Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy.

“We are excited about signing this MoU with the Dubai Land Department, and contributing to the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 to reduce energy consumption by 30% by 2030,” he added.

“Through our cooperation with the Dubai Land Department, we seek to exchange knowledge and raise awareness among the community about conserving energy and water, with this energy intensity map,” said Al Muhairbi.

“We are happy to be working alongside the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy to not only save our resources, but to save our environment as well. Through the Dubai Land Department’s influence within Dubai’s real-estate market, we can keep the Council updated regarding resources, and the preservation of energy,” said Bin Mejren.
