Organisers of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) say the 2018 edition has seen significant growth in interest from downstream industries, such as refinery and petrochemical operations.
This is the second year ADIPEC has included conference sessions and exhibition space for the downstream sector, evolving ADIPEC as an integrated event that offers strategic insights, knowledge exchange, and commercial opportunities across the full oil and gas value chain. Included within the programme are Downstream Global Business Leader panel discussions, as well as an extensive downstream technical programme, further reinforcing Abu Dhabi role in shaping the future of oil and gas.
Speakers include senior decision makers from the UAE – representing the downstream operations of ADNOC and Mubadala – other GCC producers, as well as from IOC’s including TOTAL, CEPSA, BP, and NOCs from outside the region, including from Malaysia and Nigeria. Petrochemicals are represented by companies including Borouge and Borealis, while experts from leading technology companies will lead a global discussion on digitalisation.

Downstream sectors form part of what is already recognised as the world’s leading oil and gas event, known for its ability to attract top government and industry decision makers from across the region, and globally.
The 2018 ADIPEC conference strategic programme features two ministerial sessions, four global business leader sessions as well as four downstream global business leader sessions, two global offshore and marine business leader sessions, ten C-suite dialogue sessions, and two CEO energy finance breakfasts. The final day will include six inclusion and diversity in energy sessions, focusing specifically on engaging conversations to inspire, change and put forward solutions towards building a diverse and female-inclusive oil and gas industry.
For industry professionals, the downstream-specific technical sessions include new trends and emerging technologies for lubricants, fuels and base oils; smart, connected assets, devices and wireless technologies; mitigating challenges during commissioning and start-up operations for refining and petrochemicals; and new technologies to meet new fuel specifications and support clean energy standards. Participants are given a 360-view of the current and future downstream sector, as part of the continued evolution of the conference.
Presentations for the sessions have been assessed by a committee drawn from leading companies. Some of those represented include the Bahrain Petroleum Company; Repsol; ENI; CEPSA Petroleum Operations Middle East LLC; Unipetrol; Hellenic Petroleum; ADNOC Refining Research Centre; Egyptian Petroleum Corporation; Baker Hughes, a GE Company; Fluor; and AME & APA, CB&I.

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC); and supported by the UAE Ministry of Energy, the Abu Dhabi Chamber, and the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, ADIPEC will take place from 12 to 15 November 2018, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
