Dubai - MENA Herald: The General Secretariat of the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (SLC) has recently announced the formation of ‘Hawaa Committee’ in an initiative to promote continuous professional excellence among women employees and achieve new milestones on a par with SLC’s pivotal role as a main partner in the ongoing development in Dubai. This move is part of the SLC General Secretariat’s commitment to creating a productive and innovation-friendly work environment that ensures highest job satisfaction levels amongst employees in general, and female employees in particular, in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who confirmed: “employee happiness is directly linked to the happiness of society as a whole”.
The ‘Hawaa Committee’ is established to create a reference framework for SLC female employees and provide an interactive platform for direct communication and positive ‘Hawaa Committee’ will also address the various issues affecting female employees’ personal and professional development, offering the highest levels of confidentiality, independence and comfort to ensure ultimate employee satisfaction loyalty and corporate belonging. The Committee will also launch creative and motivational initiatives which aim at enhancing female employees’ potential by providing channels for sharing their legislative and legal knowledge and expertise with a view to achieving the SLC’s objectives to develop the legislative and legal frameworks in Dubai as per the SLC mandate. ‘Hawaa Committee’ will also help nurture patriotism, corporate social responsibility, and the culture of charity and volunteer work amongst SLC female employees to enable them to play a positive role in driving comprehensive development.
H.E. Ahmad bin Meshar Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the SLC, said: “The formation of ‘Hawaa Committee highlights our earnest endeavours to support the achievements of Emirati women who have become role models in leadership success and in academic and professional distinction. Today’s focus is no longer on qualifying Emirati women, but rather on capitalising on their creative talents and advanced leadership skills to develop the legal and legislative framework in line with the Dubai Plan 2021, and in implementation of the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum: “We have already moved beyond the phase of empowering women. Indeed, we are empowering society itself through women; we are empowering our economy by strengthening the role of women; we are advancing government services when women occupy leadership positions; we are launching development projects under the direction of women; we are improving our infrastructure, our health and education services, and even our military by relying on women’s roles in these fields.”

For her part, Maryam Omar Al Huraiz, Head of Financial and Administrative Affairs at SLC General Secretariat and Head of ‘Hawaa Committee’, said: “The establishment of ‘Hawaa Committee’ serves as a valuable addition to the national efforts aimed at optimally boosting and leveraging on women’s potential to achieve the ambitious objectives of attaining a prominent position for the UAE worldwide. Reflecting on the experience of the Union, we find that Emirati women have made a remarkable contribution and great achievements as holders of leading positions in the executive, legislative and judicial authorities. These accomplishments are mainly attributed to the unlimited support extended by H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak towards empowering women and enhancing their role in the national comprehensive development, in line with the directives of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Through ‘Hawaa Committee’, we look forward to creating an integrated platform to enhance the role of SLC women employees in improving and taking the legislative and legal infrastructure in Dubai to a new level of excellence in response to the insightful vision of our wise leaders”.
‘Hawaa Committee’ will be responsible for setting up operational plans for the initiatives and programs aimed at supporting SLC female employees across all levels and providing all that is needed for creating a positive work environment to help female employees balance the professional, family and social life. ‘Hawaa Committee’ will represent the SLC in women-related events, conferences and meetings held within and outside of Dubai, as well as help increase awareness in the cultural, sports, health, environmental and religious aspects by organizing and participating in internal and external events, activities, programs and seminars.
