MoF Organises the “Youth Council of the Ministry of Finance” Event

As part of its commitment to support young generations and empower their roles at work and in the community; and develop an environment to showcase their abilities, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) organised “Youth Council of the Ministry of Finance” event at the Ministry’s premises in Dubai. The event was held in line with the International Youth Day and the UAE’s policy to activate youth capabilities. The UAE policy included various initiatives and procedures which aim to develop an agenda that keep pace with the rapid changes and future aspirations.

HE Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of MoF, stressed the role of government policies in identifying work priorities, establishing laws and regulations to achieve various benefits and overcome challenges. HE said: “The young generation forms the largest category in society, which requires developing effective policies to enable their roles positively, and establishing measures to determine the effects and outcomes of the policies on the public sector and young generation.”

The event reviewed the UAE's agenda with regards to establishing youth councils and their role in interacting with the young generation through field visits, surveys, developing plans and holding workshops. This aims to establish discussion channels, understand youth’s challenges, and develop the required solutions within the government’s work policies. The event also discussed the objectives and values of the Youth Council of the Ministry of Finance; and reviewed the Council’s work plan and initiatives to motivate the young generation and effectively develop their capabilities in government financial work.

HE added: “The Youth Council of the Ministry of Finance comes in line with the Ministry’s objectives to empower a culture of innovation in the institutional work environment. The Council aims to develop the young generation, communicate with them, and highlight their roles in innovation. The Council also aims to audit youth’s opinions on projects and internal policies, which strengthens the Ministry’s ability to provide its services according to the highest standards of quality, efficiency and transparency.”

The Youth Council of the Ministry of Finance was established based on the administrative decision No. (14) of 2017, and works to support the outstanding young talents at MoF, identify challenges, suggest relevant solutions and programmes to develop the youth’s capabilities in line with the Ministry’s future vision. 

The Youth Council of the Ministry of Finance performs a number of tasks including: publishing the young generation’s message, collecting data and recommendations from the youth at MoF, evaluating the young generation’s response in the Ministry towards internal policies and projects, mobilising youth’s talents to develop successful solutions and policies, identifying the opinions of the young generation at MoF, and adjusting the objectives of the Youth Council of the Ministry of Finance to come in line with the objectives of the UAE Youth Council through periodic coordination and communication.  

The UAE Cabinet adopted the establishment of the Emirates Youth Council to establish a strategy for youth in line with future directions of the UAE, identify their opinion on relevant matter, identify challenges and suggest solutions and required programmes. This aims to activate their positive participation in various sectors in the UAE and society which contribute to enhancing the national identity and patriotism, and representing the young generation in international forums. Specialised Youth Councils were established within various ministries to enhance the role of the young generation and benefit from their capabilities.
