Dubai - MENA Herald: In its efforts to become a sustainable event, the UAE Athletic Federation has teamed up with Dulsco as its official green partner for ‘The Emirates Kids Marathon.’ Under the slogan ‘Resolute & Vigorous …. No for Obesity’, the fun-filled event will be held at Dubai’s Mamzar Park to mark International Children’s Day on November 18.

During the marathon, Dulsco aims to inculcate a behavioural change in the participants, visitors and spectators on reducing and recycling of waste especially - plastic water bottles by putting it inside the green bin. Dulsco will be placing more than 125 green bins for collecting recyclables.

The Green Team from Dulsco will be present at the event, including staff volunteers and workers to ensure that the recyclables are segregated at source meticulously and later recycled. During the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon in 2015, Dulsco collected 86,450 plastic bottles and 4,300 glass bottles and ensured that the city was clean and green post this mega event.

Amr Al Saleh, Assistant General Manager, Emirates Kids Marathon, said that, “We are fighting two core challenges currently one is obesity and the other is to preserve our planet by protecting the environment. These children are our future, our country’s lifeline and we definitely need to provide them with good health by constantly educating them and at the same time setting an example by protecting the environment. We are delighted to partner with Dulsco to ensure that our kids take home a great amount of learning and also have lots of fun at the event.”

“We are delighted to be part of this prestigious event as the green partner. Our request to the people participating and visiting the marathon is to look for Dulsco’s green recycling bins and drop the water bottles and other recyclables like cans and bottles in it. Black bins can be used for all other general waste. Dulsco volunteers will be present at all the key areas of the marathon from start to finish and ensure that the plastic water bottles, cans and other general waste is not left lying around. Our aim is to make it a green and clean event and positively contribute to the nation’s green journey.” said S. Madhumohan, Director Waste Management, Dulsco.

Several workshops and entertaining activities are also scheduled at the venue.
