Dubai - MENA Herald: Emirates Auction, The leading UAE-based auction company in the Middle East, has expanded its corporate social responsibility activities in 2016 to support charitable work, offering support to the underprivileged people, and providing educational healthcare and basic needs to friendly nations, in line with the directives of the UAE wise leadership in promoting the values of social solidarity and humanitarian assistance.

The expanded CSR strategy was developed in support of the objectives of UAE Vision 2021, which is geared towards establishing the UAE as an exceptional model for developmental and humanitarian initiatives.

HE Abdulla Al Mannaei, Chairman and Managing Director of Emirates Auction, said: “We believe in the importance of charitable and humanitarian work in making a real difference in the life of people and providing them with means of decent living, by catering to their different needs, particularly in healthcare and education. It is our duty and responsibility as we walk in the footsteps of our leaders who are the role models and source of aspiration to us. We follow their example in giving back and putting smiles on the faces of disadvantaged people”.

Al Mannaei clarified that Emirates Auction, during last year, has been eager to expand its partnerships with many organisations which share the company’s CSR vision. He added that in 2017, the company will enter into more partnerships and organise more charity auctions to promote humanitarian work in the country, in line with the Year of Giving 2017.

In June 2016, Emirates Auction organized the charity auction for the “Reading Nation” campaign, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
The auction generated funds from the sale of valuable items put under the hammer to provide four million books to refugee children across the world, and help establish over 2,000 school libraries. The auction’s sales have amounted to over Dh41 million in total, helping the campaign to exceed the original target of donating 5 million books and reach a donation of 7.3 million books.
In May 2016, Emirates Auction signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with “Dubai Cares”, to provide children in developing countries with access to quality education.
Under the MoU, Emirates Auction agreed to organize fundraising auction that helps the philanthropic organization provide as many children as possible with the gift of education. In addition, the auction house agreed to help promote Dubai Cares’ programmes and initiatives on its websites and auction halls.

In June 2016, Emirates Auction announced that the proceeds of Cancer Researches Endowment, which the company co-launched with the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Center for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC), will be donated to Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The initiative was in response to the global vision for endowment, which was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to revive the practice of endowment through innovative applications. The university will use the donation to fund its cancer researches. The initiative serves scientific and medical research sectors and helps alleviate the suffering of many patients.

The support was followed by a visit made by Emirates Auction’s team to the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences in August 2016, during which both parties discussed ways of cooperation, particularly in conducting fundraising auctions to support the university and its medical researches, in line with its pioneering role in the development of healthcare quality in Dubai and the UAE.

Last year, Emirates Auction signed a cooperation agreement with Emirates Red Crescent to launch a series of charity auctions in line with their joint efforts to reinforce excellence in humanitarian and development work.

Under the terms of the agreement, Emirates Auction agreed to provide fund and donations in line with its commitment to support humanitarian projects being implemented within the Emirates Red Crescent initiatives at both local and international levels. Emirates Auction agreed also, to host the organisation’s online auctions, as well as support the joint projects that aim to enhance public awareness on the significance of charitable and humanitarian work and spread the culture of volunteerism among society.

In 2016, as a result of the collaboration between Emirates Auction and Hamid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Charity Foundation in Ajman, an initiative for noble cause was taken by Mr. Yahya Al Jesmi, an Emirati philanthropist who donated a Dh2.45 million from the revenues of a vanity car plate that he bought from online Emirates Auction, to the foundation. The proceeds of the plate were dedicated to support the foundation’s projects in helping underprivileged families.
