Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation Signs MoU with Dubai’s Supreme Legislation Committee

Dubai – MENA Herald: The Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (“AMAF”) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding(“MoU”) with theSupreme Legislation Committeein the Emirate of Dubai ( “SLC”).The MoU highlights the keenness of both entitieson strengthening and developing their relations as strategic partners, and is aimed at boosting mutual cooperation in all areas, improve legal and institutional performance, and foster integration between the SLC and the AMAF.

The MoU was signed by His Excellency Tayeb Al Rais, Secretary General of the AMAF,and His Excellency Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar Al Muhairi, Secretary General of the SLC, in the presence of officials and advisors from both parties.

The Supreme Legislation Committee is the sole entity authorizedto handle legislative issues in Dubai, in accordance with Decree No. (23) of 2014. As part of its mandate, the SLCenlists experts from various government organizations for the purpose of formulating and reviewing new legislations.

Under the MoU, the SLCwill highlight local and federal legislations relevant to AMAF’s activities and offer recommendations on their best application. The MoU will enhancethe legal and technical expertise of both parties, and promote cooperation in training, legal research, and studies. The SLCwill also extend a range of legal services to the AMAF as part of the MoU.

Commenting on the MoU, His Excellency Tayeb Al Rais said: “We are honored to sign this MoUwith the SLC. Our partnership is an important step towards improving mutual strategic relations with various government entities in the UAE. Such collaboration will also help us achieve positive outcomes in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the legal system in Dubai.”

For his part, His Excellency Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar Al Muhairisaid: “The SLCfirmly believesthat developing Dubai’s legislative structure can only be strengthened with the collective efforts ofall government entities in the emirate. Towards this priority, we are committed to building strong relations with our strategic partners from the government sector.

“I commendtheAMAF’s important role in championing minors’ and orphans’ interests, caring for their welfare, and providing them with safe and secure family environment to help thembecome active members of society. We look forward to working with the AMAFin our bid to strengthen Dubai’s legislative environment.
