Saif Ali Al Shafar appointed chairman of Tejar Dubai Youth Council

Dubai - MENA Herald: The Tejar Dubai Youth Council, one of the 46 Business Councils operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, appointed Saif Ali Al Shafar, Chairman of the Council during the second Council meeting of the year held at the Chamber headquarters recently.

The aim of the Council is to unify the voices of the national entrepreneurs while helping them to grow and develop under the umbrella of Dubai Chamber. It was launched last year with the support of Tejar Dubai entrepreneurship development programme, a Dubai Chamber initiative, whose aim is to promote entrepreneurship among young Emiratis.

During the Council’s first meeting, Al Shafar thanked Dubai Chamber for its continuous support and commitment to facilitate the establishment and activities of the Council under its umbrella while providing a platform for young Emirati entrepreneurs to contribute to the economic growth and development of the emirate.

Al Shafar said: “Today, let’s resolve to work together for a bright future. We are lucky to be living under the wise leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. Therefore it’s our duty to respond in a fitting manner by setting a good example while contributing to the economic progress of the emirate.”

The newly-appointed head of the Youth Council stated that the UAE Government believes in providing an ideal platform for young people, which is evident from the recent appointment of a young State Minister for Youth Affairs which is a step in the right direction, adding that the Council will have to play its role in this development process offered by the encouraging environment of the country.

Added Al Shafar: “I urge our members of the Youth Council to look into the challenges that we face and together find their solutions in a innovate way by thinking out of the box and putting our fresh ideas forward while supporting the creators of innovative ideas financially.”

On his part, Essa Al Zaabi, Senior Vice-President, Institutional Support Sector, Dubai Chamber and General Coordinator of Tejar Dubai, congratulated Saif Ali Al Shafar and wished him all the best, stating that his appointment will strengthen the role of the Youth Council in promoting the contribution of young citizens to the economic growth of the country, as well as in enhancing their communication with the private sector by exchanging experiences and knowledge.

“This will lead to further uniting the voices of young entrepreneurs in line with Dubai Chamber’s strategy of providing a common platform of communication to all its stakeholders in overcoming the obstacles faced by the emirate’s entrepreneurs while enhancing their competitiveness in the domestic and global markets,” Al Zaabi said.

The Council, which is led by Saif Ali Al Shafar, includes the following members: Fahad Al Bannai, Randa Al Hameeri, Shaikh Suhail Al Maktoum, Alia Al Mazrouei, Mansoor Al Abbar, Hadi Al Abbas, Mansoor Al Bastaki, Ahmed BelYoha, Saeed Al Ghurair, Alharith Al Moosa, Mohamed Al Ghurair, Humaid Al Tayer, Rafia Al Mulla, Mohammed Seddiqi, Ali Al Shamsi, Abdullah Al Gurg, Yaqoob Al Serkal, Senan Al Naboodah and Sultan Al Ghurair

Currently, there are 46 country-specific Business Councils and 27 sector-oriented Business Groups totalling 73 operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chamber which reflects on the diversity of the emirate’s business environment.

Dubai Chamber is providing a number of facilities to all the business councils and groups by inviting them to participate in various events and meetings to strengthen trade relations. The Chamber also serves as a conduit between the public and private sectors represented by these councils and groups as it presents their recommendations and proposals to various government entities.

Over the years, the Chamber has played an important role in serving the business community by organising networking meetings and trade missions to build strong alliances, open communication channels with key regional and international trade partners while exploring business opportunities in promising markets of the world.
