Dubai - MENA Herald: INJAZ UAE, a member of Junior Achievement Worldwide, and Honeywell (NYSE:HON), a Fortune 100 software-industrial company, recently partnered to host a Job Shadow Day for Emirati engineering students at Honeywell’s offices in Dubai.
The initiative came under an agreement to support the skills development of Emirati students through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) focused work-readiness training programs.
Over one million students around the globe participate in the JA Job Shadow Day program to enrich their understanding of jobs and careers through authentic real-life on site corporate experiences. INJAZ UAE teamed up with Honeywell to deliver training programs focused on STEM opportunities to broaden students’ career outlook before they graduate.
Sulaf Al-Zu'bi, CEO of INJAZ UAE commented, “INJAZ UAE and Honeywell share a common vision of developing the skills and work readiness of youth. We want to ensure that students have the right information about their future careers and the steps to get there. STEM careers will contribute the prosperity of this country.”
“Honeywell is committed to investing in the communities in which we operate,” said Norm Gilsdorf, president for Honeywell’s Middle East, Russia, Turkey and Central Asia. “Through our partnership with INJAZ UAE, we are pleased to support Emirati university students as they explore potential career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math.”
INJAZ Job Shadow Day is a day-long workshop in which students are introduced to the job market via on-site corporate visits, providing them with an authentic real-life experience inside a classroom set-up and with a variety of hands-on activities.
Professional mentors at Honeywell started the session with a meet and greet, and an overview of the company and its work culture. Students then shadowed a mentor to get a glimpse of different departments such as aerospace, security, production, human resource management, and corporate communications. Honeywell mentors also performed mock interviews, advised the students on careers in engineering, and showcased some of Honeywell’s state-of-the-art connected technologies.
The partnership between INJAZ UAE and Honeywell supports training activities and provides work-readiness programs that serve as a pivotal bridge between students’ academic and professional lives - a key function under INJAZ UAE’s Work Readiness pillar.
This partnership is also aligned with UAE Vision 2021 in enabling youth to build careers that will boost the knowledge economy that is competitive and resilient in an innovative and sustainable environment.
Honeywell's involvement with INJAZ UAE is supported by Honeywell Hometown Solutions, the company's corporate citizenship initiative, which has helped inspire more than two million students at all grade levels worldwide to embrace STEM education.
