Tuesday 10 November 2015

Abu Dhabi - MENA Herald: Organisers of SIAL Middle East have announced that the inaugural edition of Abu Dhabi International Date Palm Exhibition (ADIDPE 2015), the world’s only dedicated B2B event for the date palm fruit, will run from 7 to 9 December at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA), the event will be co-located with the Middle Eastern Food Exhibition (SIAL Abu Dhabi 2015), the region’s fastest growing food, beverage and hospitality event.

ADIDPE 2015 will serve as a dedicated platform for trading in dates, the most widely cultivated fruit crop in the UAE. Showcasing different varieties of the date fruit from top global date producing countries, the event will draw participation of 200 exhibitors from 15 countries, six national country pavilions and more than 2,000 trade delegates and suppliers from across the world.

The Hosted Buyer Programme will serve as the key attraction of the event, bringing more than 50 top importers of date palm fruit and associated products from Malaysia, India, Jordan, Pakistan, Italy, United Kingdom, among others to meet with exhibitors and discuss their requirements. In addition to the dedicated buyers for date fruit, ADIDPE will also attract 15,000 serious food buyers from around the world visiting the co-located SIAL Abu Dhabi 2015.

Fadi Saad, Director, SIAL Middle East, said: “We are delighted to present the inaugural edition of Abu Dhabi International Date Palm Exhibition that will establish the emirate’s growing status as a global hub for the date trade along with the hugely successful B2C event Emirates International Date Palm Festival. In convening ADIDPE 2015 under the umbrella of SIAL Middle East, we seek to offer producers of dates a unique opportunity to meet face-to-face with the right buyers, purchasing managers and decision makers from the global date palm industry on one dedicated platform.”

Fadi Saad added: “Dates are a crucially important economic crop and a mainstay for life itself here in the UAE. Every part of the date palm is used in food and industrial production. The very fact that the UAE is the world’s top exporter and second largest importer of dates makes Abu Dhabi the ideal destination to host a show of this caliber. In hosting the inaugural edition of ADIDPE, we seek to make it a world platform for every trade professional involved in the date industry. In addition to highlighting the economic importance of the crop, we also aim to celebrate the long association of the date palm with the UAE’s cultural heritage and Bedouin way of life.”

Abu Dhabi International Date Palm Exhibition is extensively supported by the strategic partner Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and the headline sponsor Ministry of Presidential Affairs. The event is jointly organised by SIAL Middle East and Khalifa International Date Palm Award.
