ENOC introduces knowledge & robotics-themed initiatives to support UAE Innovation Week

Dubai - MENA Herald: As part of its participation in the UAE Innovation Week, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) introduced several knowledge & robotics-themed activities for its employees starting from November 22 to 28. The sessions are designed to encourage knowledge sharing, application and capability building amongst employees.

On the knowledge application sessions, ENOC collaborated with Digirobotics to create Robotic demos and workshops for management, technical teams and the Group’s subsidiaries such as EMGAS, Dugas, EPCL, Horizon Terminals and Cylingas. The workshop is designed to help generate ideas and projects on how the company can integrate robots for more innovative, efficient and improved operations.

ENOC also collaborated with Junkbot, a provider of DIY (Do it Yourself) Robot kits, to organise a competition for staff to build robots from junk material. A similar competition will also be held for employees and their children to build robots as part of ENOC’s contribution to sharing knowledge with the future generation. To build knowledge capability, selected UAE nationals will receive trainings and certifications on innovation tools.

Commenting on ENOC’s participation at Innovation Week, Saif Al Falasi, Chief Executive Officer of ENOC Group said: “At ENOC, we believe in the importance of participating in initiatives that have been established by our visionary leaders to support the development of a knowledge-based economy. ENOC will also organise a session to focus on the process of invention. The session will be presented by UAE inventors Eida Al Muhairbi, Wasfi Al Shdaifat and Farah Kassab. The trio have teamed up in the past to create 40 inventions and patents. In addition, Fatima Al Kaabi will discuss her two inventions - an interactive friendly robot and a solar bag to charge electronic devices and talk to ENOC employees about her journey towards success as a young inventor.

We generated AED45 million from converting 45 ideas into successful projects and are proud to have our Idea Management System, INNOV8, internationally certified by Ideas America. The UAE Innovation Week is an opportunity to celebrate these achievements with our employees while giving them a rewarding and unique experience through the robotics focused activities.”

Moreover, the winners of INNOV8 Idea Management System for implementing ideas in Q3 and Q4 2015 will be awarded. Additionally, robots will be serving employees coffee to offer staff a unique experience and inspire them to look at technology differently.

The UAE Innovation Week, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai is a platform to showcase various government initiatives, as well as events and activities by the government, the private sector and academic entities.
