Emirates Islamic and Network Intelligent Payment Solutions announce strategic partnership with Ministry of Interior and SAAED Traffic System for launch of ‘Smart-Teller’ Kiosk ‘Sahel’

Dubai - MENA Herald: Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, together with Network Intelligent Payment Solutions (NIPS), an Abu Dhabi-based full-service payment solutions provider, today announced their partnership with Ministry of Interior and SAAED Traffic System for the launch of Smart-Teller, the third generation of Sahel, with cutting edge technology providing services for Ministry of Interior and EVG insurance. The Smart-Teller kiosk was launched at Cards and Payments Middle East, in the presence of Jamal Bin Ghalaita, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Islamic; Colonel Mohamed Al Zaabi, Deputy Manager of IT and Telecommunication Department, Abu Dhabi Police; Engineer Ibrahim Ramel, CEO of SAAED Traffic System and Lubna Al Sayegh, Managing Director of NIPS.
‘Smart-Teller’, an innovation aligned with the UAE’s smart government initiative, will provide services such as vehicle registration renewal with instant issuance, fines enquiry and payments, issuances for lost or damaged driving licenses and vehicle registration in addition to insurance services through ‘Emirates Vehicle Gate’ (EVG) service whereby customers can request an insurance quotation and pay for the insurance policy prior to vehicle renewal and registration. The Smart Teller is a secure unattended kiosk with the international standard of TSA & ADA for end-users with special needs, and is also compatible with PCI DDS Standard. It has an in-built Emirates ID reader and a QR code reader to connect between the smart app and kiosk so the customer can apply online and receive the service physically from the nearest kiosk, in addition to a signature pad, passport scanner and document scanner, enabling the kiosk to provide comprehensive services that were previously only available over the counter. To support the needs of various nationalities, the device interface is available in four languages - Arabic, English, Urdu and Malayalam. In addition to A4 printing capability for services that require certificate issuance, the kiosk accepts credit card payment, accepts and dispenses cash payment in banknotes and coins. It also has a cheque scanner, NFC, plate number sticker printer and a drop-box for document submission.

The innovative kiosk will soon be launched at twenty locations with plans to launch over a hundred more across the nation by 2016/2017 and will gradually expand to include all other government agencies services to be included on one device.

The partnership between the UAE government sector and private sector empowers UAE government departments with cutting edge solutions such as Smart-Teller, the third generation of Sahel.

Colonel Mohamed Al Zaabi, Deputy Manager of IT and Telecommunication Department, Abu Dhabi Police said: We are proud to launch Smart-Teller, the third generation of Sahel to facilitate providing ‘out of counter’ services and to support the transformation of Abu Dhabi Police’s smart services. We always aim to offer convenience and easy solutions to customers to execute their transactions.”
Colonel Barakat Al Kindy, Head of Information Security section, Abu Dhabi Police said: The device will be available in all customer service centers of Abu Dhabi Police during the first phase, and will expand to shopping malls and key areas across the emirate for serving end-users at a location near to them. This will save their time and effort to get any required services.”
Commenting on the launch, Engineer Ibrahim Ramel, CEO of SAAED Traffic System said: “Our strategic partnership with Emirates Islamic and Network Intelligent Payment Solutions commences with the launch of ‘Smart Teller Devices’, a new achievement for Emirates Vehicle Gate which will enable customers to complete their transactions seamlessly and in real-time. This new milestone for EVG will help us grow our business and reduce operational cost. At EVG, our strategy is to keep launching new innovations and enhance customer experience while complementing the government strategies.”
Commenting on the launch, Lubna Al Sayegh, Managing Director of Network Intelligent Payment Solutions, said: ‘Smart Teller’ is a first of its kind device in the entire region. NIPS is proud to design, develop and implement such process automation and smart payment solutions with the support of project stakeholders. This is only the start and we will continue to further develop Smart-Teller and empower the device with the latest technology. We will also work with our strategic partners from UAE Government entities to add their services on ‘Smart-Tellers’. This will be a first in the UAE, giving end customers a unique service experience through a device that processes services for multiple entities and is not just a payment solution.
