Wednesday 25 November 2015

Dubai - MENA Herald: Emirates Institute for Banking & Financial Studies (EIBFS), a leader in banking and finance corporate education and training, has partnered with the Association for Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) to become the exclusive provider of its approved training courses in the UAE.

Through this partnership, EIBFS will offer senior anti-money laundering (AML) officials, compliance officers, regulators, auditors and other appropriate professionals the opportunity to obtain the association’s highly regarded Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (CAMS) accreditation, recognized as the finance industry’s gold standard in money laundering prevention.

CAMS is a four-day program including a one-day online seminar designed to equip industry professionals to combat financial crime more effectively. The program combines practical approaches based on current regulatory guidelines with in-depth analysis of advanced anti-money laundering strategies. The sessions also prepare the participants to take the CAMS examination.

Jamal Al Jassmi, General Manager of EIBFS, said: “As this agreement shows, the Institute will continue to work with the world’s leading industry bodies and education providers to ensure banking professionals in the UAE have access to best-in-class training and development, with a focus on UAE nationals.

“Offering CAMS is aligned with our objective to cater to the evolving requirements of the UAE’s banking and finance sector. We are committed to helping banking and financial institutions equip their employees with the required skills to confront corruption and malpractice.”

“The challenge for Middle East and UAE financial services firms is managing compliance costs as the global crackdown on corrupt financial practices squeezes resources,” Al Jassmi added.

“The UAE banking community is taking proactive steps to secure its infrastructure, and up-to-date training is an essential component of effective preparedness.”

ACAMS aims to establish an international standard for evaluating industry professionals responsible for the detection and prevention of money laundering.

Commenting on its partnership with the Institute, John Byrne, Executive Vice President of ACAMS, said: “ACAMS is pleased to add the EIBFS to its extensive network of training partners throughout the MENA region, and to give the UAE’s financial community the option of completing live CAMS training sessions throughout the year.”

“The Institute’s vast experience in training banking and financial sector professionals, and its leadership in Emiratisation, were important factors in ACAMS seeking this training partnership,” he said.

The CAMS training sessions will take place from 25th November 2015 to 8th December 2016 at the Institute’s Dubai campus from 6:00-9:00 pm. UAE nationals receive free admission.
