DUPHAT 2016 Concludes on a High Note

Dubai - MENA Herald: The Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition concluded today at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, with a great success confirmed by all participants and local and international speakers who have come from United States of America, United Kingdom, Australia, Europe, Canada, Chile and the Middle East.

DUPHAT conference and exhibition has become a prominent scientific platform that has witnessed a great success year after year in terms of the participation of delegates, international pharmaceutical associations, and local and international companies showcasing their latest innovations and equipment in this vibrant industry. The conference this year hosted 144 scientific sessions and 30 workshops, presented by 140 speakers and specialists including deans, university professors, consultants, experts, and seniors from prestigious pharmaceutical associations.

During its course of three days, the conference covered the pressing issues in the pharmaceutical field that included: Future trends in pharmacy, new developments in the pharmaceutical sciences, global partnerships, governance, certification and authorization in the pharmaceutical practice, innovation and leadership in education, strengthening the role of the pharmacist, and safety issues in the practice of pharmacy.

By the end of the third day, the scientific committee had released the following DUPHAT Conference recommendations:

Adoption of ‘smart’ technologies ( the pharmaceutical Robot, Automated dispensing technologies and smart mobile applications) that can help improve the safe pharmacy practice in hospitals and ambulatory care settings and integrate them with hospital information systems.

Optimization of pharmaceutical care services by introducing of smarter therapies such as therapeutic vaccines and Nanomedicines.

Expanding the role of pharmacists in medication and chronic disease management and other new clinical, pharmacist-led services. Provision of specialized patient cantered services.

Enhancing pharmacist role and practice applications in Epidemiology and critical care units to promote patient therapeutic outcomes, reduce adverse drug reactions and medication errors

Implementation of governance frameworks and measures to enable organizational accountabilities and institutional compliances for best health outcomes and public well-being.

Utilization of national and international indicators to benchmark and to compare the outcomes of pharmaceutical care services and maximizes the effectiveness of quality.

Rationalize the Use of Antibiotics, enhance antibiotic prescribing patterns and implement Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance to assure quality, safety, resource utilization and antibiotic susceptibility rates.

Upgrading pharmacy education by encouraging creativity and innovation as well as embedding a culture of lifelong learning and blending learning approach incorporating experiential learning.

Development of leadership skills, promotion of professional skills and interpersonal relationships to be an effective academic leader which is essential for future pharmacy profession,

From the other side, DUPHAT Exhibition succeeded to host prominent companies in the pharmaceutical industry to showcase their latest products and concepts. It is worth mentioning that the largest local stand was for Modern Pharmaceutical Company, the largest international stand went for Mundi Pharma and the largest country pavilion was Turkey and China.

On the sidelines of the event, an award ceremony was held during DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition to honor the participants and sponsors of DUPHAT. The ceremony was attended by officials, sponsors, heads of delegates and members of the scientific committee. Dr. Ali Al Sayed Director of Pharmaceutical Services Department, at the Dubai Health Authority, and DUPHAT Conference Chairman, Dr. Shawqi Khoury, board member of the DHA, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of DUPHAT Conference and Exhibition and Chairman of INDEX Holding, Eng. Anas Al Madani, Vice-chairman and Group CEO of INDEX Holding, all handed the mementos trophies and expressed their gratitude for all those who contributed to the success of the conference.
