Dubai Customs bags 3 awards from Ideas UK 2016

Dubai - MENA Herald: For the seventh time, Dubai Customs (DC) has received one of the most prestigious awards from Ideas UK Association which is the Platinum Accreditation, scoring 100% for the fourth year in a raw. “The Android Inspector” idea, developed by Dubai Customs, won the idea of the year 2016. Additionally, the Elderly & VIP Clearance Buggy won the 2016 customer service category award.

All these innovations aim at reducing time and effort. Android Inspector, for example, is a smart robot that is capable of doing inspection tasks and can be equipped with inspection and tracking technologies to do additional tasks such as face identification, body language reading, luggage tracking, and thermal scanning.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World and Chairman of Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), said: “At the PCFC, we pay utmost attention to keeping pace with the efforts exerted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai so as to encourage everyone to innovate. Hussain Al Fardan, Dubai Customs’ Innovation Center Senior Manager, Chairman of Ideas Arabia and Ideas Emirates said: “Dubai Customs has added more awards to its rich record of recognitions. We have received 62 international, regional and local innovation awards between 2010 and 2016, which include 22 awards from Ideas America, 19 awards from Ideas UK, 14 awards from Dubai Government Excellence Program, and 6 awards from Ideas Arabia”.
