Dubai - MENA Herald: Drake & Scull Engineering LLC (DSE), a subsidiary of Drake & Scull International PJSC (DSI), a regional market leader in the integrated design, engineering and construction disciplines of General Contracting, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP), Water and Power, Rail, Oil and Gas and Water and Wastewater Treatment, has announced that it has been commissioned to deliver Mechanical and Lighting works for a mixed-use residential and commercial tower in Abu Dhabi and two district cooling plants (DCP) in Dubai for a combined contract value of AED 131 million. The project wins sustain DSE’s momentum of securing prestigious projects across the region in 2015, raising the value of total project awards to AED 2.4 billion.

Under the terms of the first agreement, DSE will supply and install the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Building Management, Fire Fighting, Water Supply and Drainage Systems, as well as Lighting fixtures for a mixed use tower based in Abu Dhabi. Work on the project has already commenced with an estimated handover scheduled for 2018.
Under the terms of the second agreement, DSE will supply, install, test and commission the Mechanical, Fire Suppression, Plumbing, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and Electrical services of the two plants’ Water Cooled Chillers, Cooling Towers and Building Management System in Dubai. The two district cooling plants have been designed to offer a combined 6,750 Tons of Refrigeration. DSE’s work on both projects will commence in January 2016 with a scheduled handover during Q4 2016.

Ahmad Al Naser, Managing Director of Drake & Scull Engineering, said: “DSE continues to build on the momentum achieved this year in the form of our Project awards for prestigious large scale projects across our key markets. We are pleased to continue our trend in 2015, where we have secured more than AED 2.4 billion worth of projects year to date across the UAE, Oman and Kuwait. The two projects will be a vital addition to our current projects backlog which stood at AED 12.35 billion as of 30th September 2015.
Our latest win for the prestigious high rise mixed use tower in Abu Dhabi reflects how the capital city in particular and the UAE in general (which has been a historically significant market for us) are rapidly progressing on achieving the UAE’s long term development goals. DSE’s exceptional engineering expertise and extensive exposure to the local market will enable us to help ensure that the tower will become a landmark addition to Abu Dhabi’s distinguished skyline.
The twin DCP project wins in Dubai reflect the high confidence our clients have reposed in our DCP capabilities, especially in the UAE where we have established our DCP credentials through our work on many prominent developments such as the Jumeirah Beach Residences, Meydan Nad Al Sheba, Dubai Motor City, and Dubai Festival City. We are also delivering a number of DCP projects in other parts of the MENA region, including the iconic Dohaland district and Wadi Lusail in Qatar and the upcoming Saraya Aqaba in Jordan. By spearheading the adoption of DCPs, we hope to achieve maximum cooling efficiency while minimizing the carbon footprint of large-scale projects in the region.”
