Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) received 5,139 ideas and suggestions via its MyDEWAideas portal, which it launched in early 2015 to promote creativity and innovation in the workplace. DEWA has recognised those whose ideas were approved and implemented.
“His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, observed that, “Nothing motivates an employee more than seeing the results of his own achievements.” At DEWA, we put our staff at the top of our priorities and listen to their ideas and suggestions. The management reviews and discusses these ideas and suggestions, and the feasible ones are implemented. This contributes to significantly improving the services we provide to our customers, partners, and staff, which in turn, helps us achieve our vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
“We have a solid commitment towards our staff to enhance their creativity and innovation, which are the cornerstones of our corporate success and excellence and the tools to achieve our goals and strategies. We provide the suitable environment and the necessary tools and capabilities that make staff happier and more satisfied. Our staff’s positive reaction to the MyDEWAideas portal underlines their understanding of their responsibilities as well as their commitment to enhancing government services and their work environment. It also reflects their support to this excellent initiative and their willingness to share their ideas and suggestions to achieve more successes and accomplishments,” added Al Tayer.
MyDEWAideas is the first creativity programme in Dubai Government where employees can vote and comment on their colleagues’ ideas and collaborate and share best practices. The programme enables DEWA to capture all employee-driven ideas, providing a central repository to manage innovation, to ensure continuous improvement. MyDEWAideas uses HYPE Software, which allows staff to collaborate and vote on their submitted ideas, which are similar to social media sites.
